Uriah Heep?
Thoughts? comments?

The "The Beach Boys of heavy metal?"

Wiki: In spite of their huge popularity in Britain and continental Europe, Uriah Heep were never able to break into the American market in a big way, with the exception of three hit songs, "Easy Livin' " from the 1972 album Demons and Wizards, "Sweet Lorraine" from the 1972 album The Magician's Birthday (a top ten album in Australia), and "Stealin' " from the 1973 release Sweet Freedom.

5. I dug 'em.
I always thought they were more "The Doors" of Heavy Metal than the Beach Boys though!

6. The crowd I ran with in Uriah Heep's heyday...
...saw the band as eight or nine steps down the food chain from Grand Funk Railroad.

In other words, it appeared that all of the band members had opposable thumbs and could walk on two legs, not all four, but beyond that their abilities were...shall we say..."limited."

:toast:

7. I always figured they named themselves that...
so they'd be the only artist in the "U" category... worked well until UB40, Ultravox and U2 came along.

10. The liner notes to their live album described their music as a Panzer coming at you doing 180.
I really enjoyed their music especially their live album from 1973. This medley ROCKS!
