No one else saw Ponyo?
Edited on Mon Aug-17-09 10:52 AM by redqueen
I am surprised and somewhat disappointed that no one has seen it and started raving about it already.

It is fantastic. Lots of truly laugh-out-loud moments. And of course there's the gorgeous animation.

We loved it. Absolutely loved it.

But I also like a lot of crap movies, so take that as you will. ;)

1. I'm looking forward to seeing it
The nearest theater showing it is 25 miles away. I'm hoping it shows closer to home next week.

2. I hope so too!
I live out in the boonies, so all the theaters are at least 25-30 miles away. :P

It really is very, very good. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did. :)

I loved Princess Mononoke , Spirited Away, Howls' Moving Castle and My Neighbor Totoro.

Along with Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.

Love his stuff, can't pick a favorite.

10. I just looked at a couple of 'Ponyo' trailers on YouTube
Seeing her riding on big fish/waves brought to mind 'Whale Rider', a good movie from 2002 I saw on TV.

Haven't seen it yet, but how could I not like it, given the source?

20. You have to!
Miyazaki's films always repay repeat viewing. There's so much detail you could miss the first time around, character development to view in a new light now that you know where it's going, or just delighting in those moments again: Totoro with the umbrella, Kiki willing the broom to rise, Nausicaa's heroism, and so on.

28. Yep, as good as Spirited Away.
I think you have to watch Miyazaki's movies twice -- once for the visuals (hand-drawn, BTW) and once for the plot.

for hours and hours and is a great release from the depression of politics. Wish you could visit and check it out one day. If you like bass, its the KatsMeow. Two 1000 subs will shake the foundation with the right movie.

What a wild, wonderful, playful,(weird),beautifully animated movie!
