After a lot of back and forth, I am finally going Firefox full time
I've been using a browser layover called Avant for a few years. Had it all nice and configured the way I liked it, but have started to notice it's lack of speed.
I started messing around with Firefox at work and then kept playing with it here at home. Sometimes I can be hardheaded and resistant to change, but this is getting better and better all the time....

1. I remember Avant, it was based on Internet Explorer I believe

I have Safari, Opera, Chrome and Firefox installed.

Damn habits, I should stop using the crashing ones.

2. Firefox is great just for the Adblock add-on.
I have tried many other browsers including Avant, but always return to Firefox.

What add-ons are you using?

3. Right now I am using
Tab scope(I like my tabs at the bottom) and frankly that's it. I'm certainly open to suggestions. I've only begun to poke around the add-ons and themes.
I do have a fair amount of Auto-Fills I want to move from Avant to Firefox. I know it saves passwords and usernames, but I might be in the market for something more efficient.
I do quite like the bookmarks toolbar. Those are the ones I use the most, the rest of my rubbish is scattered in a general section.

4. Here are the extensions I am currently using:
Edited on Sat Aug-22-09 06:36 PM by Franzia
Extensions:
- Adblock Plus
- All-in-One Sidebar
- BetterPrivacy
- Compact Menu 2
- FEBE
- Interclue
- MinimizeToTray
- MR Tech Toolkit
- Statusbar Clock
- Tab Mix Plus

Themes:
- Classic Compact
- Default

Tab Mix Plus also allows bottom placement of the tab bar, among many other options. The sidebar add-on is good for organizing bookmarks. FEBE is good for backing up your extensions, themes, bookmarks, etc. Interclue allows you to preview links without clicking on them. I think being able to minimize to the system tray should be integrated into Firefox, but if you prefer that option you still have to install an extension. I don't care for a lot of toolbars, so I installed Compact Menu and hid the menu bar. Mr. Tech Toolkit lets you modify and back up add-ons. Better Privacy allows deletion of flash cookies. I have used the clock add-on for several years, and have modified it to make it compatible with the current version of Firefox.

These are the add-ons that I prefer, but there are so many hundreds of others that you can customize Firefox to your own preferences, which is what is so great about it!

:hi:

5. Firefox rules.
Chrome is a data gathering machine - not a browser.

IE is a plague.
