Beautiful Minds: Stephen Wiltshire - the most amazing autistic servant - video
this is an incredible 6 minute youtube video to watch -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAfaM_CBvP8&feature=player_embedded

"Stephen Wiltshire from London is a star among savants. Stephen is autistic. He did not speak his first words "pencil" and "paper" until he was 5. Yet, when he was 11 he drew a perfect aerial view of London after only one helicopter ride. For this film we're testing the "Living camera" in Rome. "

1. that is amazing
not just to remember all those incredibly minute details, but to be able to put it on paper to scale like that. Great video.

2. Saw him on TV on a show about brains, memory, and odd things
amazing stuff.

Also had on a British gent who was a music conductor who suffered some brain damage, and has no long-term memory any more - and yet he can still play piano and still use language, but can't remember his children or anyone else until they are right in front of him, and can't remember anything he's told longer than a few seconds. Creepy and amazing.

4. a) It's 'savant', not 'servant'
b) the word 'savant' is somewhat discountenanced within the autism community, and

c) while the BBC was filming a documentary about Stephen, one of their cameramen was watching him draw a building, and said, "Coo, Stephen, I don't see that much detail there."

Stephen's reply? "No, you wouldn't."
