1. Definitely. My dearest and oldest friend is a woman.
I can't say why or why not, just that it happens. I suppose you're getting at the sexual tension thing, and I suppose when we were young it was sometimes there, but after all these years, it's irrelevant.

2. No doubt about it = not every relationship is sexually motivated

3. Yes, because I've done it,.
One of my best friends is a hot female who I've never seen naked, and we've been friends since 1987. I match a lot of the bullets one would use when defining "male pig," so if I can do it, so can others.

4. Rarely, IMO and IME. There's always the possibility of sex, unless one or both is gay. nt

5. Yes
one of my best friends is male. At the beginning of our friendship I kinda stated to fall in love with him. We talked about it. He said, no he isn't having any romantic feelings about me. That was it. Now we are friends since 10 years and even though I don't talk or see him very often I know he is there when I need him. And when we talk we talk about everything. He can tell by my voice how I am doing.

8. That seems to be all we can be
Over the years I have had enough "just friends" to fill a decent-size banquet hall. And a hell of a party it would be, too: kind of like "The Comedy Central Roast of KamaAina". :-)

But as for getting one -- just one -- to be any more than that...

9. If the age difference is big enough.
If there's no sexual attraction on either side, it's no problem. Otherwise, it takes work.

10. I think they can
I am friends with my ex-lover and we have no problems at all..well,only when he's manic and not rapidly cycling. My manfriend in boulder and i spend the night together once a week, but we're just friends. We figured out we make better friends than lovers. :-)

13. Of course - both with and without a sexual component
I've found that guys who say they can't tend to view all women as either madonnas or whores...

I am married and have a few female friends. Most of my wife's long term friends, from Elementary School Days, are men. I had to pass muster with her male friends before she'd marry me........

17. Sure, I have plenty of friends of the opposite sex.
I agree that the possibility always exists for it to grow into something larger, but that same possibility exists between co-workers or just about any other relationship where men and women interact.

21. A lot of my closest friends are women.
My favorite person in the world, my friend Emily, I wouldn't give up for anything. And though I'm attracted to her, it's never been an issue in our friendship, and never will be.

23. Sure, this sounds terribly cliched but
Some of my best friends are in fact women -from high school, university and my Church. And there's been absolutely no romantic intent on either side from those friendships

25. Absolutely!
My closest friends are about half and half (with a mix of orientations and trans/cisgender statuses in there).

I don't think I'd want to seriously date a man who has no female friends* - what that says to me is that he can't relate to women as people first (which, controversial as this statement may be, we are.)

*this issue rarely comes up, because I don't know any!
