There was the damn cat (who I kinda like, despite her habit of walking on my face at 3 AM), sleeping on my lap and keeping the left side of my bad leg warm, and the dog plastered to my other side, keeping the right side of my bad leg warm, and Mrs R snoozing on my shoulder, just for that little extra frisson of warmth that helped me survive the first cold snap of the year without suffering too much. (Though I did do a mental inventory of broken body parts that were sore because of the cold, and lost count at 18.)

Girls are great to have around, aren't they?

"snuggly," because Mrs R and I stole the word "snugglebunnies" (contracted to "an SB night") from the old Bloom County comic strip to describe a night (like tonight) when we sleep even more "inside each other" (her terminology) than usual.

Am I a fortunate son of a bitch, or what? Nineteen years together, and I still get to sleep with my wife in my arms all night.
