Sunday is demolition day for The Vet
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The best place to watch the implosion of Veterans Stadium will be in front of a television.

The stadium in South Philadelphia that served as the home for baseball's Phillies and the NFL's Eagles from 1971-2003 will be demolished Sunday morning.

1. The Best place to watch is my roof.
And that's where the party will be.

2. A few tears for Schmidt and Carleton, but little else.
A god-awful place to see a baseball game, though. Seems I've been the angel of death for multipurpose stadia. I've been to the old Fulton County stadium in Atlanta, and that got blown up, too. Three Rivers, also.

===========

I watched a 14-story hotel come down from about a two blocks away. It was MIGHTY impressive and TV couldn't come close to equaling it.

4. What a sad day
NOT!

Suffice to say I'm not a big fan of Philadelphia teams and *some* of their fans.

All stadiums end up meeting this fate sooner or later. From what I've seen, the playing conditions were not always satisfactory. Considering sports is such a lucrative industry, the least they can do is provide adequate facilities.

My memory of the Vet: Philly fans booing Michael Irvin
Honorable mention: throwing batteries at J.D. Drew

6. interestingly
I was at that game where they were throwing batteries at JD Drew. Philly fans are messed up, hopefully the new building will chill them the hell out. I'm all for beating on people with Dallas jerseys, but the battery thing was too much.
