2. Gazing at you, I get the heat
following you, I climb the mountain
I get excitement at your feet

STELLAR record. My second favorite next to Quadrophenia.

3. I'm free!
And freedom tastes of reality...

If I told you what it takes to reach the highest high
You'd laugh and say nothing's that simple
But you've been shown many times before
Messiahs pointing to the door
And no one has the guts to leave the temple

4. may i humbly submit
that there are two tommy albums. there's the blue one with the lattice design, and then there's "tommy the movie". the latter has guest vocalists like tina turner, clapton, and for some reason, Jack Nicholson.

IMHO, if you have only heard one, try the other too.
'I'm free' from the tommy the movie album is hair-raisingly good.

end rant :P

5. I had the soundtrack tommy on 8-track
yes, I am that old. It's good, but much shorter, and I didn't like the guest musicians. Elton John's Pinball Wizard was lousy, Clapton's She will Heal You was unintelligble, Tina Turner's Acid Queen was awful.

The original recording is a work of art, and while I DO like Ken Russels film a whole lot, more I think than The Wall or Quadrophenia, I wasn't impressed with the soundtrack.

8. There is another version of "Tommy".
It was a full orchestra with Rod Stewert as the pinball wizzard,
Mary Clayton as the acid queen, Richard Harris as the doctor,
and several others that I can't remember at this time.
This double album came out around 1973.
I have this album buried somewhere in my room.
Now I will have to dig it up, tomorrow.
