Ya gotta love (hate) Texas weather sometimes...
This morning, it was bright, partly sunny, clouds spotting the sky. Still cold, but far more bearable to the miserable weather we've had the last couple of days.

Around 11-11:30, it gets overcast, and fast, too. It looks as bad as it was yesterday, dark, dismal, and threatening to rain.

A few hours later and we're back to partly sunny and scattered clouds.

Oi!

Yeah, yeah, I know the saying, "If you don't like Texas weather, just wait five minutes." That didn't work yesterday, so it seems to be making up for lost wishing today :P

1. It was just last week I was complaining that it was too warm
Last week it was in the 70's...far too warm to get into the holiday spirit. Today it's snowing in Dallas and Austin might get some of it by Friday or Saturday.

My daughter is really hoping for the snow on Friday. She knows the schools shut down when this happens. :)

2. Hey, wait a minute.
That is what they say about the mid-west. 'If you don't like the weather, just wait five minutes and it will change.'

I can't believe you guys have snow and we got rain. What is this world coming to? Maybe hell is freezing over! (no offense/reference meant to Texas) ;)

12. Only North Texas got snow.
It takes a lot to make snow on the coast, thanks to the wonderful gulf stream waters :D

3. I miss Austin winters...........

Yeah, you got some cold snaps, but for the most part I found it agreeable. I also had very little issues with the heat in the summer. If it weren't so expensive, I'd LOVE to move back to those parts. :)

Just curious.

16. Rents are very pricey compared to where I live............
Right now I'm renting a 2 BR house (not in the greatest condition) for $450/mo. According to some quick scans on Craigslist, I couldn't touch anything decent (non-student housing) for under $700-$900/mo. And, the A/C would make things more expensive as well. But, if I could find myself a job that would allow me to pay the rent , I'd go in a heartbeat.

5. Maybe that depends on what part of the state you're in.
I've always heard the one I quoted. It could be that because we're on the coast, it really can change in a few minutes (and it does!) :)

13. I was in Dallas when I heard that one
In Austin, while I was attending UT, I got caught in a downpour two minutes after the meterologist said there would be a 0 percent chance of rain! Go figure!

14. Sudden, inexplicable dounpours do happen here
;)

Before the climate started to change, we'd get afternoon showers during the summer. You'd see the thunderstorms on the eastern horizon, but those were over Galveston Bay and wouldn't affect us on land. What we would get would've been the storms that built up over the course of the day and just made it inland far enough to dump their load, almost always right at 3pm. You could set your watch to them, it was so predictable! :D

6. we had a lovely snow shower this morning in Dallas
It snowed hard, giant poofy snowflakes, for an hour or so this morning. I love snow.... so much better than ice. It didn't stick at all, but it sure did make everyone at work happy to see it coming down- staff and customers alike. We are supposed to get more tonight I think.

8. Did y'all get any pics?
I managed to get a few photos last year when it did the same thing in Houston. It all melted about four hours later :)

9. I took a couple with my phone
but I didn't think of it until the shower was dying. It is so stupid... I always have my wretched phone with me, but I NEVER think to use the camera on it. I guess I am really a camera snob or something. Anyway... I don't know how well my phonecam did with the snow, and I have never tried to extract images from my phone onto my computer. I will see if I can post them.

11. It was pretty bright out there a couple of times today.
But it was like it was constantly cycling through bright/dark several times over the course of 8 hours...
