Sunday Night on the Simpsons
Did you see the episode? It was pretty decent. I thought they had a great Star Wars episode 2 spoof. Making fun of George Lucas' height perhaps went a little too far but they hit it right on the head about what's happened to his movies.

Also, Marge becomes a drunk and must go to rehab.

Anybody see the episode and care to give their review of it?

I give it maybe 6/10. Not bad but not great either.

1. I've always loved the simpsons
It was a pretty good episode, though the star wars reference was kinda old.

AND I loved the wine joke about Chateau Latour...and since wine is my career I fully understood the joke.:smoke:

Edited on Mon Mar-22-04 02:11 AM by Insider
i am really growing to like the simpsons. lots of quick laughs tonight. so many times i can't remember a lick, but enjoyed the whole hour (two episodes).

a review is tough when you can't remember jack. maybe more later.

edit:
i can't recall the opening to either, but one of them caught my attention, made me look up from work. did it go into a star wars theme song thing?

3. I felt it was mediocre
There have been a number of quality episodes this season, but this wasn't among their best.

I have a minor quibble. I didn't think Marge was an alcoholic. Wasn't she framed for DUI by Homer?

6. Marge did fall into alcoholism...
and yes Homer did frame her for DUI but she had been getting drunk with him every night.

The 2 gallon jug of beer she "nursed" at the Oktoberfest should've been some clue there was a problem.

7. Pretty bad.
They did the star wars spoof inconsistently. It started alright but then became very unfunny because they wouldn't drop it. Then they'd try something else with it and then it bombed again, partly because it was unfunny in an outrageous way.

While it does speak of the state of the Star Wars movies (not that the first three are utterly great by any means, apart from the special effects which also seem infinitely more realstic than those seen in the 'new' films), that doesn't make up for the episode.

First time in a while, I lost so much interest in "The Simpsons", I popped in a tape of something I'd seen 80 million times but still had more interest for. That 'something' being the Doctor Who story "Time and the Rani". :puke:

9. Anymore,
The SImpsons are so quick with wonderful dialogue I find I need to watch it & write down all the witty little snips they exchange!I love how Homer used the "Liberal Media"tag line.

10. best star wars joke
"Worst. Star Wars. sequel. ever. I will only see it three more times.....today."

That line is genius. Reminds me of a Star Wars nut friend of mine, hated the last couple of movies....but saw each 4 times in the theatre.
