SHIT! My cat has maybe two months to live...
just got the word that his kidneys are failing.

Vet says a week in the hospital on kitty dialysis (for around a thousand bucks) MIGHT help him live a little longer.

SHIT!

2. Yea we had to put down one of our cats a few weeks ago....
I was in the room and the image of our cat shuffling of this mortal coil hung with me for a lot longer than thought it would...

3. sorry to hear this
I have a kitty who is 16 now. She's hanging in there but I fear we won't have her all that much longer.

5. I've nursed two cats with CRF
Chronic Renal Failure. I've been able to give both of them an additional 18-24 months of quality life.

It requires daily injections of sub-cutaneous fluids, but the procedure is not that difficult nor is it time consuming.

This link:

will have a lot of useful information for you.

Good luck, TB!

6. that's what we're going through right now
Edited on Tue Dec-29-09 05:42 PM by soleiri
with our 16 year old kitty.
It's been about a week and it's a lot easier than I thought it would be and she looks so much better.
I went from checking on her in the middle of the night to make sure she's still with us,
to her waking me up in the morning for breakfast.

How we knew something was wrong was that her pupils were permanently dilated and that pointed to high blood pressure as a secondary symptom of kidney disease.

7. The relief is apparent very quickly.
My guys both responded quickly and learned to anticipate the procedure. I included grooming and talking so it was welcome social time, too.

Good luck with your girl, soleiri.

9. Have you tried to see what a natural vet might have to offer?
Just like us, animals can have a a vit deficiency, too. Most dis-ease is caused from an imbalance of some kind. At the very least, your pet could be made healthier with supplements to at least lengthen his/her life. Worth a shot...Best wishes
