Police responded to the reports at 10 a.m. and an officer located the vehicle after it exited Super 7 and was traveling southbound on Federal Road. The truck's dumpster lid was not tightly secured, according to police reports. The tarp was flapping around as the truck traveled down the road.
The officer observed that the driver, John Thomas, 45, of 5A Kellogg St. in Brookfield, had slurred speech and smelled of alcohol, according to police. Kellogg failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. He was released on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 9.
