Ok, so when you buy a new laptop with WIN 7, chances are you won't be able
to get online because WIN 7 can't locate an ISP even if you plug into your existing modem. WTF? I hate this. HATE IT!!!!

1. Give your ISP a call...they will walk you through it.
Not to worry.

2. Sure blame Win 7. Is your modem plugged in?
How about your computer?

Is it turned on?

Let me know when you get that far and then we'll go from there....

8. If it is a cable modem, unplug it for 3-6hrs
let it reset, then plug it in and go from there. If it is a DSL modem, just turn off and back on.

9. We got a new laptop with Win. 7 and my husband
had no problems getting it to talk to our wireless router. I have Vista at work and much prefer Win. 7. Call your ISP provider. You may need to change a setting.

10. I have talked with Comcast, HP, Microsoft and Best Buy
HP tells me I need to perform a recovery on the hard drive and they are willing to spend several hours on the phone with me Friday to do that....lol! Meanwhile, the 60 day free trial of Student Microsoft Office has 20 days left before I need to enter the key code, which I don't have. Why would I have 20 days left if I just got the computer yesterday?

So, I just called BB and they want ME to drive 20 miles to THEM to complain about the NEW computer I just bought yesterday. Fuck that.

15. Try "Open Office". Tastes great, less filling.
http://www.openoffice.org/

Works just like Microsoft, and it's free.
