Power is back on! Buried in snow, but chili now simmering and here comes the Super Bowl
We were without power for 12 hours exactly here in Montgomery County, MD, but it came back on at 2 p.m. Back out shortly to shovel some more (a little at a time - two feet + of snow is tough to move, and no place to put it). We don't expect to see a plow on our sidestreet before tomorrow, at best. My company follows the federal government's closing policy, so just waiting for them to announce the inevitable - that they're closing down tomorrow. Not sure why they are waiting.

Anyway, life is a whole lot better with power (especially heat). Good thing we have a nice propane camp stove and propane camp light - they came in mighty handy last night.

2. aw man -
you just reminded me - I've fixed chili for years and years and years on "Super Bowl Sunday". But I'm alone today.

The younger son - football nut and future NFL star (and no, I'm not kidding. . . ) is at his dad's to watch the game. Oldest daughter - football nut - is married and in DC (also snowed in). Older son (between the two) - isn't here. He's been at a ballet competition this weekend and is at this moment auditioning in chicago for a ballet school summer program. Though even if he was here, IF he watched the game - and he might or might not - he'd probably be at his dad's, too.

Wah.

I don't really care for either of the teams playing, but if I have to pull for one it'll probably be the Saints - for a variety of reasons. I dunno. Maybe I'll go make a big ole pot of Chili anyways. The boys can always have it tomorrow night.

Come to think of it - my dancing son might make it back in town before the game is over. He'll probably come here because I'll want to hear EVERYTHING about the competition/audition - and his dad won't want to be distracted from "the game". He would if son was there, but he'd rather not, of course.

(note: both sons dance, but the older wants to do it professionally, the younger does it because it's "good for football" - and he likes it.)

4. Yeah, we are set for the Super Bowl. And with no work tomorrow. . .
. . . it will be a lovely evening. Work hasn't officially been cancelled, but it's coming. Can't get out, anyway, no plowing yet on my street.

5. Hey neighbor...I had no power from 3am Saturday to 9am this morning
Boy was that awful! It was 51 degrees in here this morning and from the smell of it, I'll have to chuck some of my goodies I bought for the game (along with a lot of other stuff) from the fridge. Oh well, at least I got power so I can watch the game. What a hell of a weekend this has been. (I'm also exhausted from just clearing the snow off my car)

6. glad you have heat and power.
It's crazy with so much snow, power lines down, etc. Not fun. We just shoveled out our garage, and there was a neighbor confab to decide who should put what snow where, so as not to block others trying to shovel their cars out. Crazy.
