So far, nobody has responded.

Question: Where and How, Specifically, Does the HC Bill Provide Federal Funding for Abortion?
March 22, 2010

Posted on Monday, March 22, 2010 11:14:53 PM by MrChips

OK, I understand Stupak's spineless caving in, and I understand that the executive order promised him has no force of law, that it cannot trump standing law. But, in the face of the goobers on CNN just now telling me that the opposite is true, can someone explain to me exactly where and how the HC Bill does enable federal funding of abortion. I have no doubt that it does. I would just like to be able to explain it to others.

9. You mean "this" section? No, that section.
I used to drive the kids nuts with that when they were little. "Pick a hand"--"ok, that hand". "You mean this hand?"--"No, that hand". And round and round we would go.

10. Anyone want to explain to them
how the opposite may be true: the health insurance reforms may decrease the number of abortions.

Hear me out: there are 2 forms of contraception that a woman has control over: barrier (diaphragm, sponge, female condom) and hormonal (the pill, Nuva ring). Out of those methods, 3 of them (diaphragm, pill and ring) require multiple visits to an ob-gyn or a general doc willing to do pelvic exams. The sponge and the female condom are not widely available. So, for a reliable way to prevent a pregnancy, a woman must A) drive all over town and hope she finds the one store that carries the sponge or female condom, or B) go to a doctor and get a prescription.

Now, if a woman does not have insurance and cannot afford to pay for the doctor and/or the prescription out of pocket; does not have access to the OTC barrier methods; and her partner won't wear a condom, the condom breaks, or she is raped, guess what? DING-DING-DING! Correct! She is without contraception! Which can lead to an unplanned pregnancy. Which is one of the leading causes of abortion.

Now, what if a woman can get insurance, thanks to health access reform? She can go see a doctor and get safe, reliable contraception. Which would lower her chances of needing to end an unplanned pregnancy. Which may, in the end, reduce the number of abortions.

Am I wrong?

20. Well except that good republican women are virgins until they're married, and then
they must submit to their husbands/masters and have 20 kids. And of course they would never get raped because they don't dress like sluts and "ask for it". So contraception is never really an issue is it? :sarcasm:
