11. Yea, There was some great writing and acting in that series.

I liked all the companions from that round of Dr. Who.

I think Billie Piper has some songs also.

Something Deep Inside
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADfEf3BlWuY

The first time that it crossed my mind,
I kept on pushing it aside.
It's such a strong emotion.

Second time it's plain to see,
This feeling rushing over me
Oh yeah.....

And unknown to me
This chemistry is....

Something deep inside
I can feel but I can't touch
Can never get too much
I hear you loud and clear
I've got nothing to fear
Your love will be my guide
I've never been this satisfied
It's something deep inside

The third time was just as sweet,
Boy you make my life complete,
Every thought and motion.
It's hard just telling you,
But everything I feel is true.
Oh yeah....

And unknown to me
This chemistry is....

You do the thing that make me feel this way,
It's so hard to find the right thing to say,
But follow emotion the love and devotion,
You'll find....

Although this is still my favorite Piper.

12. Who is the woman in your photographs?
Yes, Billie Piper did some songs. She was a good singer. Does she still sing? However, I think she is an even better as an actress. A lot of humor and playfulness there.

13. That's Piper Laurie
Edited on Tue Mar-30-10 09:18 PM by RandomThoughts
She was in a few films, but the one that really made me think was The Hustler. There was something really special about the character she played in that movie. Love overlooked, the idea is hard to put into words, but it was really moving.

That movie helped me think on many things in life, and many deep teachings. I use to know every line in that film, it is a bit of a sad film, almost cautionary, but in some metaphors, it is also really beautiful. Their is real sadness and things to be avoided in much of the film, but also it is like trying to help us see we should never let anyone feel the sorrow she did not deserve. But as metaphor, there is a deep meaning, since what happened to her is not in the film, and there is an interpretation that changes that a bit.

There are so many layers to the film, at least in my view, and the concept of those we over look, so many people that may not be the best, but really are, it is so much to it hard to explain.

The movie really had me think on what type of person I want to be, mostly based on that character and effects people have on other peoples lives.

But only watch that movie if you are prepared for sadness, its a bit gritty.

14. Piper Laurie, The Hustler, I'll have to look in to that one. Thank you.

Have you ever seen the film, "The Knack and How To Get It?" It's from 1965, directed by Richard Lester, it funny and touching. One of my favorites. Rita Tushingham is the leading lady.

Check your PM.

23. Agreed.. aside from Martha Jones.. blech...
Did enjoy the last 3-parter with the Master though. High hopes for the new girl. Wary about the new Doctor but I was also iffy about David Tennant and he turned out all right.

Hopefully get to see a bit more of the Lonely God side of the Doctor ( i.e. the throwing the family of blood into eternal torment.. awesome)

24. My absolute most favorite Doctor Who Clip has Martha in it.
Edited on Thu Apr-01-10 06:40 PM by RandomThoughts
And is from that episode.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-BgCuzxAKs

I love this song and the clip, and that episode was well written, there could be many metaphors.

Family of Blood. The end of the clip reminds me of the clip from Tombstone, "You wanted to play for blood"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gb0uUL-aUIc

If you were shown a great future, would you choose maybe a bit harder of a path? but a path of service, that is what I got from that. The Brave Heart speech, but without violence, maybe the concept of those that turn down a kingdom. Also the part about wanting to live forever, reminds me of the greatest love is one that lays down his life for another, again without violence. And those that lose there lives shall find there life, again without violence.

And I actually loved Martha Jones as a companion, thought here performance was stellar. Absolutely great. Did you watch the season ending episode, Last of the Time Lords. The battle with the evil master. Also some of Tennant's best acting.

Without any current metaphor, or maybe part of all metaphors.
Last of the Time Lords - Part 4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYMzEuMqkzU
Last of the Time Lords - Part 5
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xtVLpoaxgI

That was so great. So very great, with Jack going after the paradox machine, and Martha rallying the troops across the world.

25. Saw Last of the Time Lords...
Thought Tennant was ok.. a bit over dramatic on his part at the end.

I didn't enjoy the lightning bolt, super speed Master. Enjoyed his his first run in Season 3 (the anti-doctor.) That whole bit didn't seem to be in sync with the rest of the series.

Youtube blocked so I can't see the videos. My favorite bit from that 3-parter was the "Here come the drums" when the Tochlaphane (sp?) rip the universe a new hole and decimate the earth.

Was hoping for a way to unscrew Donna's head. Also, what happened to Martha's freakin fiancee? Poor bastard got dumped for Mickey?!

26. Heh, seems you saw the episode differently then me.

I know some people will see a film like that and think their are claims being made. I see it as telling many other stories in different ways.

lightning bolt, super speed? LOL, nice framing there.

Quickening is a common term in many thoughts, and used as metaphor in many things.

Highlander, Quick and the Dead,

Its even in the Bible.
Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

And it may have been used in that episode also, if you want to pick that as part of a metaphor. Although my choice is not to make the metaphor that way.

Here is the thing, what people make has both good and bad, depending on what parts you look at and how you choose to see them. I can see many metaphors in Doctor Who I disagree with, and I don't believe in time travel, accept for the concept of looking forward at the consequences of ones actions. I can also find ones I like.

For instance you could think that by saying his name is the doctor is some claim to be something he does not claim to be, it is actually his title, not his name. Or you could see it as a recognition of a different story. It could just be telling another story in a different way in metaphor. I find it really funny, some people might think by finding a metaphor a person likes, that it is saying the entire show is good. Or they think that it is making some claim about an imperfect thing, that has some great metaphors in it.

You can find things that are good in it, or things that are bad. I like to find ways to find good metaphors that I like, although I also know they can be seen in bad ways also. Because people don't make perfect things, including comments on metaphors. And many put more weight into things then just finding ways to look at things for reasons of enjoying those thoughts.

20. I met him in a DU meet-up in Jerusalem.
I know he comes across as bombastic and ass-wipey over in GD, but you know what? He's actually pretty nice. And he plays a mean harmonica.

Of course, he'll rip your Cheetos right out of your hands if you don't watch out, so if he's around...pay attention.
