You know what I'd like to see in a politician?
Edited on Thu Mar-25-04 10:39 PM by Rabrrrrrr

I'd like to see one wear a tie that isn't a horrible "power tie" thing, and I'd like to see them in a decent, well-fitting, artfully tailored, serious-looking, wool or cotton non-blue suit.

What is it with these guys? Granted, they aren't dressed like little Shrubbie the diswonder monkey, but come on - dress for your station, your former station, and your potential station. When did red ties and etc. become de rigeur? I know it happened a while ago, and these are WAY better than the suits worn in the 70s, but, I don't know... I miss the old days.

And, as an aside, Carter doesn't look as old as he looked a couple years ago.

1. I find it interesting that of all the men upon that podium...
Clinton is the only one with a blue tie. All the others have red. Ever notice that's all Bush wears anymore?

Black suit, red tie. It messes with me, I can only picture black and red together as a villains paint scheme.

4. The little shrub monkey does seem to wear a lot of red
but red is known as the "power" color, so it's not surprising.

And, like you, black and red is a somewhat sinister combo.

And I hate striped ties like Carter has on. EWWWWW!!

And by having a dark colored suit and white suit, when one wears a brightly colored tie, like red, or even Clinton's blue, my eye is taken directly to the tie, which shouldn't happen. It should all work in harmony, leading, perhaps, to the face, but not to a tie focus.

2. I was thinking the same thing about Carter

He doesn't look like he's aged much.

As for the suits, they look fine to me. But I'm not a dress up guy. Blue jeans and t-shirts for me, so any suit looks fancy to me.

3. I wonder that
same thing everytime I see them. They are so unoriginal and boring looking. How about a bow tie ala Paul Simon? Well, maybe not. I can't picture any of them in bow ties but hows about a little fun?

7. Or wear a bitchin' Armani suit, or something a little more hip, but
still serious.

I mean, these aren't even as interesting as the old school otherwise boring traditional English cut of suits.

And maybe it's just me, but a blue suit says to me that the wearer either isn't confident, isn't serious, or is on the way to the yacht club and didn't feel like taking the energy to dress appropriate for his frist business before getting to the clib and changing there. That's a rather all-encompassing condemnation, I know, but fopr lo these many years I have not seen a blue suit as a color to be taken seriously.

I never saw Dick Fuld in a blue suit. I never saw any of the partners or directors of McKinsey in blue suits. I saw them in those silly colored shirts with the white colors, which I hate, but never in a blue suit.

8. An Armani suit
yes, that would be nice. I always steered my hubby to Armani, they fit him well and he really looked great in them. If you get them to fit just right nothing beats them but they are pretty pricey. These guys can afford them though.

9. I like the looks of them, that's for sure
I wish I could afford one.

Calvin Klein is another one that looks nice, and his stuff seems to fit my body type really well. I have a Calvin Klein suit, but sadly it's from when I was heavier PLUS when they made it they made it too big, so now I can't wear it. have to go get it brought in sometime, but I fear they won't be able to bring it in that much. But damn, that thing looked good on me.

And I wish these guys would do better in their suits.

5. That's something you don't see in the same photo every day...
Two ex-presidents... a future president... and a present president.

6. I don't see a problem
They all seem to be dressed appropriately to their station and the role(s) they have or will fulfill. I'm in favor of very liberal politics and very conservative dress where appropriate.

11. well, that, too!
but barring that it will never happen, let's at least work on well dressed. :-)

Though I have to say that the four men in the picture have a collective level of dishonesty that is but a micro-fraction of the dishonesty of anyone in the Shrub misadministration.
