When did Charlie Daniels jump the shark?
I think it was about 1980, when he made up this piece of jingoistic shit.

2. Don't you have to be good in the first place to Jump the Shark?
Uneasy Rider is a decent tune but I'm not sure what else he did that was worthwhile.

5. Believe it or not, he played on Nashville Skyline, New Morning, and Self Portrait.
Granted, they are not the best Dylan records...
Daniels is a man who should only be allowed near a pick. Not a pen. Not a microphone.

7. Stupid lyric: I ain't asking nobody for nothin, if I can't get it on my own
No one is self-sufficient.

We all rely on somebody.

And there's nothing musically in that song that's too extraordinary.

8. Perhaps not NOW
But back in the 70's when it was released, it was a bit of an eyebrow raiser in the country music genre. It's not as if there weren't others doing much of the same, but CD was much more overt than most of his peers had been at the time.

And the lyric has little to do with self-sufficiency. It's saying I might be a lazy dope smoker, but I'm not asking you for anything so leave me the fuck alone.

So perhaps we're not talking about musical genius here, but there's not a whole lotta that in modern music of all genres these days.

20. I agree
Think he stopped playing Long Haired Country Boy in the nineties because of "GASP" drug references

19. Right about the time sharks were invented, if you ask me.
Talent admitted, but I've always thought he was a one-trick pony. Not that I can do that trick, of course. Probably the politics that makes me snarky.
