Yo-Yo Tricks World Record Broken
<snip>

THE world record for the most number of yo-yo tricks in a minute was broken in Melbourne today.

Ben McPhee, 25, from Newcastle in NSW, broke the previous record by five, performing 40 dexterous tricks including walk the dog, shoot the moon and three leaf clover, at the Australian Toy Hobby and Nursery Fair.

Mr McPhee, a professional yo-yoer, rediscovered the art in his final year at school.

"I was looking for any excuse not to study," he said.

"When I was a little kid everyone had a Coke yo-yo and then I found one (during Year 12) in a drawer at home and the string broke. I went and got a new yo-yo and it spun!"

After a year at university, he dropped out and travelled to nine countries teaching yo-yo tricks.

1. Who more perfectly defines the term "geek"?
1) Star Trek convention news website operator and coder.
2) Professional Yo-yo-er.

3. Consult the Geek Heirarchy
http://www.brunching.com/geekhierarchy.html

Keep in mind that some relationships (i.e. group A considers group B more geeky) are circular. According to the chart, the geekiest group is: "People who write erotic versions of Star Trek, where all the characters are furries, like Kirk is an ocelot or something, and they put in a furry version of themselves as a star of the story"

You must admit it's hard to top that.

2. An old friend of mine in California . . .
was a professional yo-yoer believe it or not. He was a pretty cool guy.

He was actually the world champion in like '96 or '97 something like that.
