Update on Mosche the Cat.
After the trip to the vet he is now completely toothless, poor old guy, but at least he's alive. It was a giant abscess in his jawbone which caused all the trouble, and whatever few teeth he had remaining needed to be pulled.

And here's a big, big thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of you. I simply don't have the words to express how grateful I am for the support and caring for the Chief Inspector; after all the worry and then the good news that things weren't as horrible as feared... I'm going to bed in a little while, and he'll be snoozing right along side of me as he has for the past sixteen years.

Luv ya, Lounge!

:loveya: and :grouphug:

PS: Guess I'm now in the market for kitteh dentures to get his pearly whites back!

No dice. Wide awake. Good Lord, I'm so happy my big old guy will be okay.

8. Ha! As soon as he got home this evening,
wobbly as he was, the Chief Inspector made sure that everything was just as he had left it that morning. He checked out every nook and cranny of the place.

10. Butt-flavored mouse mousse at that!
Don't know why that is, but as soon as he finishes eating, he licks his butt. Logical consequence: If butt tastes so good, why not make butt-flavored cat food?

Nervous wreck, here, obviously. :silly: A very relieved nervous wreck.

23. About the diet...
The vet said that once Mosche's gums have healed in a week or so to keep feeding him as before. There is always a bowl of dry food available (which he'll still be able to eat) and each morning and evening he gets a helping of canned food.

Good luck with your kitty's teeth! 18 is a ripe old age...

Mosche cuddled all night, just purring away into my ear!

20. Yes, indeed.
The doc did a biopsy, since he thought there might be a tumor on Chief Inspector's chin. Fortunately, it was nothing but his brittle teeth and the abscess. What a relief.

Watching him meander around the place right now, checking it all out, and thinking how badly things could have turned out to be...

26. I pureed his food last night, and he polished off a whole bowl.
That's always a good sign when their appetite comes back. Oh, and it really is a big relief. Worrying that it might be something serious... the vet did a biopsy because he thought there might be a tumor on his chin, but it was "just" the abscess.

I'm so grateful for all the good thoughts that have been sent!

It's not me. I didn't do it. It's Mosche, I swear. And he burps. Big old thundering burps like Hefeweizen at the Volksfest will give you.

I will now cram in the earplugs and put on the gas mask before retiring for the night. Good night, all. Gah.

37. If that's a serious question...
.
...I couldn't find anything about cat dentures except for
a high desire/demand for them.
.
Everything I found was maintenance of kittytoofas and
veterinary dentists whose main focus seems to be on
prophylactic treatment and the removal of diseased
toofas for (obvious) health reasons.
.
Whether it was a serious question or not, I DID find this:

40. I did see that article...
.
...but it's at competition prototype stage and probably
years away from implementation (at least on a global
scale).
.
Kinda like a concept car timeframe.
.
I'm a little surprised that there IS no progress in this
area. The article hinted that it was on the level of wigs
or clothing for cats -- not so at all.
.
Just look at our own tango tee AND Mosche to see how
serious an issue it can be for both parties involved --
and combine that with the number of posters who related
serious kittytoofa problems of their own.
.

.
I just KNEW SpelChek wasnagonna like "kittytoofa".
