Tell me why it isn't obvious that Jacob's brother's name is Esau.

3. Well, all I know is that in the last few episodes LOST needed to introduce more new characters.
I will be surprised if its finale truly satisfies anyone.

4. I heard at work today that the producers only planned for it to be
on 3 seasons and had no idea it would be take off like it did. I live in L.A. and one of the students at the college where I work said she knows a lot of the people involved in the show and they don't know what to do. The rumor is that they're going to have to have another season to work everything out. The people I work with were like WTF today... no questions being answered, they can't possibly wrap everything up, etc. I only watched the first season, loved it, and can't wait to have a marathon. I'm borrowing season 2 tomorrow. Also, two of my friends who are very, very bright (one's a Doctor and one's a writer) are total addicts. I'm going to call the writer friend tomorrow to see what she knows/thinks.

Oh and it isn't obvious his name is Esau because LOST is not a christian allegory as some people want to believe. It borrows shit from all kinds of religions, science, etc. If they wanted it to be that way they would have called him out by name last night.

8. Jacob and Esau are from the Old Testament
and quite likely also historical figures, very significant figures for that matter, considering that this is the very point in history where the Israelite and Arab branches divert.

So, it's also an interesting historical question to ask "What if..." with regards to Jacob and Esau.

I wouldn't categorize that as "christian allegory" whatsoever.

7. not Esau
I'm ninety nine percent sure it is not Esau. If they wanted to call him Esau they could have used the name from the beginning.
After the last episode I thought he might not ever be given a name,

If he has a name, the reason we are not being told yet is because it will be a finale reveal and we will learn that a current character is the rebirth of MIB . I'm betting on David , son of Jack so that Jack will come to a choice of whether or not to kill MIB never knowing he is his son.
All speculation..........I don't read spoilers
