Random Lyric Thread
D'ya ever have song lyrics just pop into your head at inappropriate times? And then the lyric kind of sticks there, having popped up out of the blue, and comes back off and on for the next week or two until you actually listen to the tune! And sometimes I can't even remember the whole song, just that one snippet of lyrics which stays with me.

Here's the lyric which prompted this thread. Some of you may know the tune: The Great Deceiver, by King Crimson.

Cigarettes, ice cream, figurines of the virgin Mary
Cadillacs, blue jeans, dixie glass full of antique sherry

Do YOU have any snippets of lyrics you can't shake?

1. These have returned to my thoughts over and over.

They come from the Gorillaz song Rhinestone Eyes.

I'm a scary gargoyle on a tower
That you made with plastic power
Your rhinestone eyes are like
Factories far away

It's part of the noise when winter comes
It reverberates in my lungs
Nature's corrupted
In factories far away

With the events unfolding in the Gulf of Mexico it's hard for me not to think about how far out of balance with nature our lives have become.

4. Beee kind to your web-footed friends
For a duck may be somebody's muuuuther
It lives all alone in the swamp
Where the sun nevahhh shines

If you think that's the end of my song
Well, it is.

That old marching tune whose name escapes me at the moment was playing on the tv at work this morning. I sang-a-long the above lyrics to one of the elderly ladies as I helped her into her wheelchair, thinking it would be an old favourite. But to my surprise she said she'd never heard it before. She's usually got a good memory for that sort of trivia, what she doesn't remember is that she'll fall over if she tries to stand without assistance. Now I've brought the thing home in my head and I'm hoping this post will release me from it.

5. Interesting. I have heard that false doctrine before.
Edited on Sun May-16-10 12:01 AM by RandomThoughts
That song follows the pattern of the false Deceiver doctrine. seems to have a little 'show' doctrine in it also.

There is a false doctrine that says all people of faith are lied to, so they serve a few people. Basically it says all the holy texts are lies to get people to give away stuff, and only the selfish have things. It is a materialism first false doctrine, not about moral right or wrong or caring. Usually it does not believe in any justice or after life either.

Really bad doctrine, sounds like part of that. You can see it in many places. It is the idea that existence is evil, and people are lied to. People that believe in that doctrine think they might as well take what they can, and think those that wait for justice are wrong, and mock them and the ideas from the spirit of goodness, kindness and love.

That really is part of the dark side doctrine, and a rationalization to treat people bad, and it also gives permission within that false doctrine to lie to people then do something else. Something I think is wrong. But if someone can be wrapped in that lie, they wrongly think lying is ok, then they can disregard any teachings of kindness, and also lie and be mean.

It is also why many people call things with much good and a little bad as only mocking, while actually mocking the idea of a just and kind God. They only see the bad parts, and think on them as the meaning of existence.

However people that believe that doctrine, heh, they do think of themselves as kings, that is funny, but they are also the bad parts that want to mock and are in hatred of God, so try to seed their religion of deception as what existence is.

Seen that doctrine in many places, even in posts here that say things that talk about good stuff are actually mocking good and loving thoughts. And there are many things that do have both a good idea in them, and a bad one. People that follow deceiver doctrine find the bad and believe in that, and believe in lying.

The way to prove that wrong is a long story, it is in past discussions defeated that doctrine long ago. Posted about how wrong that doctrine is a few times. Basically if you believe deception and favoritism, based on things like deception, then you will go to who you serve, the deceiver. And that thing will not be kind to you by definition.

If you act in truth and love then it makes sense that is where you will go.

Although some people think that there is no justice, same people that believe in deception. So basically that idea from that song is from the idea of no justice and deception.

It is dark side. And a smear used against those that believe in the better ways of light and truth and love. Most people try to be honest and kind and find good things, but do know there are areas that try to make people that are kind look bad, while most just try and find the good side of things.

Also, when the bad side tries to mock kindness, many times it is used to show what they see, and that there are more meanings in something then just what they think they think it means.

So there is always that also.

I could explain the methods that doctrine shows itself, but for those that don't see it, I think it is best not to mention those things, but it is an interpretation that is part of many groups that think in bad ways. It is really bad doctrine. One of the worst actually. Note that the song calls the deciever great, a hint that he is following the deviever and deciever doctrine in that song. Probably a few smears of good things in that song.

The good response to that is in the song Father Figure.

It actually fits the line from the song.

Father Figure
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_9hfHvQSNo

So when you remember the ones who have lied
Who said that they cared
But then laughed as you cried
Beautiful Darling
Don't think of me

Because all I ever wanted
It's in your eyes baby, baby
And love can't lie, no...

Note that those that laugh at people that believe in love is in that lyric.

People in the false doctrine laugh at people that do believe in the better spirit of love and kindness, and when they do kindness without much material reward, and even hardship, the bad parts sometimes mock and laugh at them, part of that lyric also I think.

Father Figure clearly speaks from the good side, where love can not lie, and that the liars are not of love.

That's all I wanted
Something special, something sacred
In your eyes
For just one moment
To be bold and naked
At your side
Sometimes I think that you'll never
Understand me
Maybe this time is forever
Say it can be

That's all you wanted
Something special, someone sacred
In your life
Just for one moment
To be warm and naked
At my side

Sometimes I think that you'll never
Understand me
But something tells me together
We'd be happy

(Baby)
I will be your father figure
(Oh baby)
Put your tiny hand in mine
(I'd love to)
I will be your preacher teacher
(Be your daddy)
Anything you have in mind
(It would make me)
I will be your father figure
(Very happy)
I have had enough of crime
(Please let me)
I will be the one who loves you
Until the end of time

That's all I wanted
But sometimes love can be mistaken
For a crime
That's all I wanted
Just to see my baby's
Blue eyed shine
This time I think that my lover
Understands me
If we have faith in each other
Then we can be
Strong

I will be your father figure
Put your tiny hand in mine
I will be your preacher teacher
Anything you have in mind
I will be your father figure
I have had enough of crime
I will be the one who loves you
Until the end of time

If you are the desert
I'll be the sea
If you ever hunger
Hunger for me
Whatever you ask for
That's what I'll be

So when you remember the ones who have lied
Who said that they cared
But then laughed as you cried
Beautiful Darling
Don't think of me

Because all I ever wanted
It's in your eyes baby, baby
And love can't lie, no...
(Greet me with the eyes of a child)
My love is always tell me to...
(Heaven is a kiss and a smile)
Just hold on, hold on
I won't let you go, my baby

I will be your father figure
Put your tiny hand in mine
I will be your preacher teacher
Anything you have in mind
I will be your father figure
I have had enough of crime
(So I am gonna love you)
Until the end of time
I will be your father
I will be your preacher
I will be your daddy
I will be the one who loves you until the end of time

8. "...who gets to come along because her father invented the secret fuel."
Zappa's "The Radio Is Broken" popped into my head
randomly today- I'm certain I haven't actually listened
to that album since 1994.
