Digital artists, 3D modelers, sculptors...I have a program for you!

A program called Sculptris just came out (it's free even!), and it's very cool. This is the closest to actual sculpting that I've ever come across in a computer program. It's amazingly intuitive and simple to use. I've never made a 3D model in my life and did this on my first try...



That took me about 40 minutes. This is what I'm currently working on, and this has taken me about 75 minutes so far...



I've tried my hand at various modeling programs and just never had the patience for them, but this is so easy that anyone can make some cool stuff with little in the way of a learning curve.

That is looking good there! My attempts at ZBrush were rather, uhm, surreal, so I quickly gave up. I'm surely checking this out. :hi:

But I really lost all self-esteem in 3D sculpting with ZBrush. I don't think it's really something for me.

Can you rig your figures, too? Are you making the mesh all yourself?

I know so little about 3D modeling that I don't even know what that means. :rofl:

I know what a mesh is (pretty much lol), and yes, I'm essentially making it on the fly, just like working with clay.

16. I call all the figures/models 'meshes.'

'Rigging' means to make it poseable, like get some joints in there you can twist around.

I think the pose you make is the pose you get. I could be wrong though. I'm still just scratching the surface of the program.

Seeing what you did just messing around is pretty impressive. I still haven't delved into digital sculpting. I planned to once I got a new PC that can smoothly run zbrush. This program seems to run pretty sooth on my laptop, so this should be fun! Thanks again!
