Camping out in the one air-conditioned room
Set up a card table for meals.
Lay out air mattresses to sleep.
Watch history channel for stories about Shackleton's rescue, penguins, ice-road truckers, battle of the bulge, anything with ice and snow.
Dash out to the heat to check DU, then dash back.

Where is this heat spewing from? I want my life back. Where's my yacht?

:hi:

1. Some people have no A/C at all.
I remember the days when my school was not air conditioned (South Louisiana). It was hard to pay attention. That's why Southerners got so ignernt. Can't even think in the heat.

4. I remember my non-air-conditioned high school
In central Georgia, it got warm even during the school year. But it wasn't the heat that got to me, it was the bugs. Mosquitos at night, gnats during the day.

6. Dear Curtis E.:
I love the way you spell ignernt. That is all....
Oh yes, and here in the miasmal swamp otherwise known as Philadelphia, PA, I rejoice in air conditioning...

2. It's a big tube we set up from Texas...

We have a massive heat pump system installed, pumping the hot air back to your state, while dropping lots of rain (evaporator) and cool air over us.

It's been working pretty good so far, never been so nice in beginning of July :P

5. Ok, then, as long as there's an explanation for the heat
Our comfortable temperatures are sacrificed for a good cause. Funny, my relatives in San Antonio never told me they were stealing our "cool".

3. I feel your pain.
I've been living like a hermit in my one-air-conditioned -room home. It'a small bedroom, but at least I have a televsion set in it. I have three cats and to my surprise, they don't like the air conditioned room; they;d rather swelter in the heat. This heat wave has been going on for about six days (in NH). Unusual, even in July. I think I hate summer. Like you, every once in a while I come to the computer in the hottest room of the house because I can't stand the isolation. I can't wait for October.
