Anybody know a thing or two about Blackberries? I'm at my wit's end.

I just downloaded a ringtone of one of my absolute favorite songs, 'Protection' by massive attack. I have two other ringtones already ('None Shall Pass' by Aesop Rock and 'Supermassive Black Hole' by Muse) and they both work fine. however, if I try to play the 'protection' tone, I get an error every time. If I set it as my ringtone and then call my phone, it doesn't ring because it won't play the tone. I set 'protection' as my ringback with no problem.

But why won't it work as my tone? I checked the file, and it has the same format as my other two tones, and i got it at the same place i got the other two.
anybody have any ideas that could help me fix this problem?

1. If you ever ask for help on an error, telling people the exact text of the error is important.

Also tell us the model of BB that you have. :)

2. It just says 'There was an error' and it's a blackberry curve.

7. the exact message is 'an error has occurred attempting to play media'

8. Try this

Connect your BlackBerry device to a computer using USB, accept the USB Mass Storage mode, and use a file explorer on the computer to browse the device memory and the media memory (one partition for).

Allow the file manager to display hidden & system files.

Find the files BBthumbs.dat (there may be up to one in every folder) and delete them all. Those are index files, they can become corrupt.

Unplug the USB cord and open the Media Manager on your BlackBerry device. It should re-create all the indexes (= create a clean BBThumbs.dat file in every folder that contains a multimedia file : music, video, ringtone, voice note, pictures).

13. I was able to do everything you said, but it didn't help.
