Cow escapes pen, and is shot by Fair Cops.

Amateur video shows an SUV trying to corral the cow at the California State Fair on Tuesday, July 27, 2010.


A pregnant cow that got loose at the State Fair has been shot and killed after attempts to capture and tranquilize it failed.

State Fair officials say the cow was being transported to the nursery facility at the fairgrounds when it escaped. Police found the cow near the entrance to the fairgrounds and tried to corral it; however, the cow escaped again heading toward the concert stage area.

UCD veterinarians and authorities tried to tranquilize the cow, but the tranquilizer gun apparently malfunctioned. They say they were forced to put the cow down to protect the safety of fairgoers and workers.

pretty fucking dangerous - a panicked 1200 lb hooved, possibly horned animal is EXTREMELY dangerous

and once they are panicked and full of adrenaline - yes 17 shots, especially if the idiots didn't know where to shoot - body shots would do almost nothing and many head shots fail too
