and Los Lobos from many years ago before they ,and I, and most of the audience, got older and grayer, but they still rocked the joint (as did Hiatt, at a beautiful outdoor amphitheater with the Sandia Mountains as backdrop)....

3. Glad you had a great time.
I knew you would.

Robert Randolph and The Family Band are coming here in October. I would love to go but it's on a freakin' Wednesday night. Missed Jackson Browne and David Lindley for the same reason. I just can't stay out late on a work night anymore.

You have such excellent taste in music, Ron. :D

6. I guess I do, although I recall posting once that I've forever lost hipster status because
I've been known to crank the car radio up and sing along at the top of my voice to Edison Lighthouse's Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes.

Goin' to see Richard Thompson at a different outdoor venue Monday .Very rare for major shows to come here on anything but weeknights too, but I don't start working again for a few more days, and have flexibility when I do, to work afternoon half days only sometimes, and still get paid for 2/3 of a day. BB King and Buddy Guy are going to be at the place I was last night on Sept 18th,and that's a Saturday night, but not sure about my concert budget for 2010 after these two, unless the E Street Band comes within a thousand miles in which case cost will, of necessity, be no object. My computer has all of a sudden refused to copy pictures anymore, but if you google Sandia Casino, and get on google images , there are some great shots of the place, some with good shots of the backdrop of the Sandia mountains too.

I remember that song so vividly from my very young days and am sitting here singing it in my head. ;)

Richard Thompson? Oh, man! BB AND Buddy? I would be so there! Love them both, such incredible musicians. You are sooooo lucky to have those shows lining up.

We have lots of casinos here and that's where some of of the bigger acts are booking. I don't want to go to a casino, either. Luckily we still have the Cain's Ballroom and the Brady Theater.

:hi: my friend. :hi:

12. Think you had an earworm before, huh? How 'bout now?

The idea of seeing shows at Casinos rubbed me the wrong way at first, but a couple of them have built really beautiful performance spaces, including this one, if you checked out google images or looked at the pics Tuesday Afternoon posted. Seen some really good shows at different casino venues, Joe Cocker, Chris Isaak, John Fogerty, and BB King...also saw a show with Flo and Eddie (of the Turtles), Chubby Checker and Felix Cavaliere of the Rascals(who is really who we went for, but the others were real good too; still put on good shows for a bunch of geezers).
Just googled Cain's Ballroom. Didn't realize you were in or near Tulsa; thought you were out in the "levellands" of the panhandle or something. I was going to be passing through Tulsa on my way to Chicago a month ago, but ended up not needing to go, and had already booked a motel etc and was in touch with guitar man and was going to get together with him and see some live music (just some friends of his in bars, and we both probably would have sat in a few songs with them too....one of these days though...).

13. Well, if'n ever that trip
and jam session is gonna happen, please by all means let me know. We are in the boons just a wee bit south of Tulsa. Hubs and I could hook up with you. Haven't had a chance to meet up with L. yet.

We have a small guest room with a trundle bed that will sleep two and I'm a fair hand at cooking.

Would be fun. :hi:

8. it was very nice, indeed....And the place itself is beautiful.
As I just told hippywife, my computer has stopped being able to copy and paste pictures (and Mr. Low -Tech here is too brainless to be able to figure out why) but if you get on google images for Sandia Casino, there are some real nice shots including a few that have the beautiful mountain backdrop in them.

5. Los Lobos is an extremely talented band.
I saw them at a New Year's Eve concert in the early 90s at the Pantages in Hollywood. I bought half-price tickets in the seventh row from a scalper that got stuck with extras.

they should be ten times as famous as they are. Incredible range and musicianship.

7. I think we've compared notes on this before (???) Saw them on New Years Eve there too
but I think we figured out they were different years. The one I saw was, I think, '90/91 and The Blasters opened ( !!)... And I agree with what you said about Los Lobos. David Hidalgo especially; just a virtuoso player as well as singer and they've written so many amazing songs, yet are best known for La Bamba (although it was fun seeing them having some fun with some oldies last night; Turn on Your Lovelight, Good Lovin,as well as , of course, la Bamba and Come On Let's Go... They come to NM a lot; I think they feel pretty much at home here, and I'd say last night at least a third , if not more, of their songs were in Spanish.

15. Yeah, as long as I lived in LA, I never saw the Blasters ...
or X or most of the other new wave/punk bands.
