2. Sonic slushes are essential
here during the summer. I usually get a fresh lime or lemon slush, first time cranberry and I love it. :D

3. there used to be a Sonic in the town to the east but it has been closed for years
pretty sure there are a few in Tucson but for some reason we never go when in town. Tuscon has EeeGee's more of an Itallian ice thing but yummy and good flavors that change regularly. mmm - we have to go in tomorrow for a Dr's appt... - whichever we drive by first - I am determined to have a icy cold slushy thingy!

4. Their cranberry slushes are delicious...
.
.
.
.
...but my favorite is their lemon-berry slush, with BIG chunks of frozen strawberries.
.
.
.
.
The Eegee's Kali mentions are preferable, with my favorites being root beer or cranberry.
It's basically a sub shop -- but their sandwiches SUCK (with the exception of their chili
dogs) and their meatball sandwiches.

6. I really think
Edited on Sun Aug-15-10 03:05 PM by hippywife
the cranberry has surpassed the lime as my favorite. :9 The bev I don't like there are their cherry limeades. Braum's (a local ice cream chain) does a much better one. It's more like a real limeade with cherry in it, whereas Sonic's is just a lemon-lime soda with cherry. I don't like the fizzy, it's not refreshing.

:hi:

I've had Sonic try to make me a root beer slush and it was awful, had some weird back taste to it like there were lemon undertones. Very nasty.

My daughters both worked at our local Sonic through high school!

10. Why is it fizzy like a soda?
It really doesn't make it very refreshing. Sonic is a great job for a kid in HS, especially one who can skate! I always tip a dollar for my slushes, more if I eat there, which is rare.

:hi:

12. They aren't fizzy here.
May be a regional thing???? My oldest bought her first car with tips she made there. Her paycheck went into a savings account for college. Halfway there. My middle daughter, well she has a couple of cute tattoos and she is very happy!

19. no Sonic here in No. CA
but we visit Tucson pretty regularly. I have seen Eegee's but have never eaten there, we usually go to Baggins.

However, I till try Eegee's slushes next time!

5. I would definitely envy you,
but someone got a souvenir from Hawaii, and we bought it at a yard sale. A manual ice shaver!
I freeze a quart-size cottage cheese or yogurt container (the container for the shaver was missing) of water, put the resulting ice cylinder in the receptacle, lock on the shaver crank, turn the crank, and shave ice comes out into a bowl. We drizzle slightly diluted frozen cranberry, lemonade, cherry, or apple juice on it and :9

8. Yaaaaaa for you!
Sounds wonderful. I do make granitas sometimes using my little ice cream maker and get the same effect. I love these types of things better than ice cream. Much cooler and more refreshing.

9. With just a touch of extra cranberry
It gives it a little bit of a bite which makes it more refreshing! Also good ocean water with a squeeze of lime. The whole lime in the coconut thing really works!

11. Yes!
It definitely could have used a skosh more cranberry, but it was still tasty and refreshing. I've never tried the ocean water.

18. Hi, sweetie!
How are you doing, love? So very good to hear from you.

One time when I was visiting my folks back in Columbus, we went down to Peter's Farm Market and they had apple cider slushes. They were fantastic! Did you ever go down there when you lived up there? Run by an old hippie couple. The most fantastic homemade pies. I never asked her but I just know she used lard in her pie dough. Her crusts were the flakiest I'd ever eaten.

I hope you caught this yesterday. It's a song I dedicated to all my DU gal pals. I hope S. saw it, too.

22. I am envious - but they just opened a Sonic
near Baltimore - only an hour's drive from where I live (which is better than when the closest one was in Delaware, a much longer drive). In October there is a train show at the Maryland State Fairgrounds. If I go with my husband to the train show we can and will stop for lunch on our way home. I am so excited!

A Sonic burger and route 44 cherry limeaid with extra cherries would hit the spot right now :)

25. I got to have another one tonight.
Hubs brought us each one home last night. This one tastes much more cranberrier than the last one.

I think I have a new obsession. :D
