Are you all OK? We're getting the Big Weather today here in southern New England, but I don't think it will be quite as bad (though it's not going to be any fun) here as it's been for you guys.

Stay safe, would you? Don't go anywhere where a tree could fall on you.

1. So I guess the 10 inches of rain that parts of Maryland got
including storm surge from the Chesapeake Bay isn't registering on your radar....:P
Seriously, we had a lot of local flooding around here and I've NEVER EVER seen the bay surge like that without a full fledged tropical storm/or hurricane being involved.

2. Oops, sorry, I forgot MD and DE. I've fixed that mistake. And here I am, the
geography / map expert (I can label every state on a blank outline map), and I left two states out.

Mea culpa.

3. Here in GSO, NC, we had flash flooding yesterday.
In the usual places mind. Today is a beautiful day though. No real wind - just quick rising water in streams that usually have a trickle. Happens all the time in these places - and it can come so quick... yesterday I went up a road and it was just OK, 20 minutes later going back DOWN the same road the police were out and guiding traffic as the stream had overflowed, flooded the baseball pitch and park area and flooded part of the road.

I went out today and I spotted a big tree snapped in half a block away from me! I'm in Pen Argyl, PA, about 10 miles from the Poconos.

One of the girls was supposed to bring them in yesterday evening. She forgot. The wind was nasty as hell about 3 A.M. and it rained most of the night. It is somewhat cool but rather pleasant right now.

On Edit: Harrisburg, PA area - helps to give a point of reference, eh?

10. NC here, inland a little.

We had some flooding, but we didn't end up with 20 something inches like some areas in the eastern part of the state.

We also lucked out and didn't get any tornadoes in my area.

The eastern part of the state had at least 3 Doppler indicated tornadoes that I counted.

That little boy died this morning. He was one of the twins in the car crash in Creswell, NC. :(

People on the coast cannot get around without comparing notes with each other on local news sites, because the DOT web site is not updated. There are roads that are flooded, but not listed on the DOT web site. So people are asking each other about safe routes.

11. Yes, I'm ok. Thanks for asking. Schools here were closed, though,
because of road conditions. I actually lost electricity the night before when there was just minor rain.

I heard my area (Delaware County) got the worst of it... major flooding along the waterways, especially Darby Creek.

my siblings who live in Montco, and they're doing OK except for th traffic tie-ups.

18. I used to live in Skippack, and had a creek in my back yard. Fortunately,
the house was about fifteen feet higher than the creek banks, so I'm assuming the place is OK today. Not that it matters, since I don't own the place anymore and have not for almost thirty years...but we have thes emotional connections, don't we?

Fortunately my house near Collegeville is ok. It doesn't flood easily - we've had a couple problems with the basement before (not now) - but someone died in flooding in Collegeville itself. That was tragic.

We did need the rain. Just too bad it came all at once in a short period. The sun is out now, though! Have a nice day, Redstone. :hi:

16. We had a new, unplanned feature to the house we're building: indoor pool!
The roofers didn't get here this week, but they are coming tomorrow.

Actually, no damage to the house. It's really not that bad and should dry out inside.

We had 8" in Chapel Hill from Sunday through Thursday a.m.--half of that was Wednesday through Thursday.

Wilmington apparently broke its record--more rain than when a hurricane came through about 10 years ago.

Yesterday and last night it POURED rain and the wind was pretty ripping at times. This after days of cloudy rainy crappy weather. So it appears that it's over here now.

Hell, we really needed the rain anyway. Hadn't barely a drop of it since June.

This is Delaware County, PA, btw.

19. A little water in the basement in northwestern Virginia ...
but no big deal. Very very heavy rain last night, though, and strong gusting wind that started last night and hasn't let up (though it is beautiful and sunny today). Power out for 5 or so hours yesterday, too, but back on by dark. All in all, everything's OK.

Hang on up there. From an earlier post of yours, Redstone, sounds like you're prepared! I have to confess to loving big storms, to an extent of course - that extent being human or animal injuries, or property damage.
