1. Not at all.
And I'd add that honest baldness is way the heck better than a comb-over.

2. Agreed
Me, I advocate to cut it all off if it doesn't want to stick around.

4. That's the way I feel.
I especially find that cotton-candy, Karl Rove look the most disgusting.

3. For me, it's an asset
I dig balding men.

I'm streaming through all the X Files episodes on Netflix Instant and I'm reminded of just how much Assistant Director Skinner used to incite my girly bits. :hi:

bald men. My husband has a full head of hair, but he has nice eyes, so I forgive him the hair.

7. I buzzed my hair off because of a bald spot at the back of my head.
:(

I was embarrassed of the bald spot.

10. You did good
Frankly, cutting off all of your hair takes attention away from the fact you're going bald.

It's says that, "My hair (or lack thereof) does not rule my life".

14. See, I think it says something else entirely.
"I'm way too concerned with my increasing lack of hair and forsooth have resorted to dramatic camouflage measures."

I ain't sweating it. There are worse things than being bald...you could have no sense of humor or you could be sleeping with an objectivist.

Edited on Sun Nov-14-10 07:43 PM by Chan790
As awful as toupees and combovers look (and frankly they look terrible), unless one has a well-shaped head and is in great shape like Mr. Statham or exude masculinity like Telly Savalas the shaved head thing looks idiotic.

Few things are as ridiculous as a closely-shorn lumpy fat head. I'll concede toupees and combovers are two. More balding men need to find a skillful hairstylist and fewer need to go for the sheep-shear.

23. I disagree
I've seen all kind of bald head shapes (hey, I am 53 so a lot of my dates are bald) and bald is ALWAYS better than combover/toupee; buzz cuts are fine also

24. Here's a bald spot story for you.
I was paying for gas at a self-serve gas station that had a small kiosk on the center island for the attendant. I looked up above the attendant to see the security tv. There was this guy with a huge bald spot on it, shown from behind. For a moment, I felt sorry for the guy. Then I noticed he was dressed just like me. I turned slowly, and saw the camera behind me high on the wall.

I started wearing my hair a lot shorter after that and now simply drag a pair of clippers without a guide over my head about once a week.

But he actually was wearing a toupee he'd spent thousands of dollars for when i first met him.

He just keeps his hair very closely cropped now. Kind of like that Statham guy. rowwwwrrrr

9. It doesn't seem to affect my dating life any.
I'm balding.

I have a short (like #3 on top, short #2 on the sides) pomade-shellacked side-part. It looks dandy upon me. I really really really hate the Bald Men with Shaved Heads thing and will never do it unless I end-up "toilet-seat bald" like my biological father.

16. I'm so goddamn spoiled / lucky:
At 56, I still have all of my hair and 95% of it is still black. Women, in particular, refuse to believe that I don't dye my hair. But on the Indian side of the family, my brothers and I are scheduled to keep our hair. (Baldness skips generations on that side of the family.)

If I started losing hair, I can't honestly say that I wouldn't freak out and get plugs or something..or just shave the ol' dome and even everything up.

clarification: I VERY much dislike combovers and toupees (to me they signify insecurity) - and if I date a guy with one of those I make them ditch it in due time; yes INDEED

Hair, height, stuff like that never mattered to me; it would be like saying I wouldn't date a left-handed guy - it is utter nonsense

FYI, my current beau is bald as a cue ball :D

But it does depend on how they keep their hair. If they're trying to do a lame comb over, than I can't get down for that. If you're bald, you're bald, nothing anyone can really do about it except accept it.

 My DH was going bald when I met him and after 16 years it's gotten to the ring around the head stage and completely white. So what?

Besides, he has a hairy tummy I can rub. :D :D

Edited on Mon Nov-15-10 05:43 AM by elana i am
there'd be a lot of perpetually single people. 50% of men have started going bald by the age of 50.

besides, while we women very very rarely have baldness, our hair noticeably thins as we age.
