Anybody have a good use for old VHS tapes? I need to de-clutter,
but I don't want to just dump them at Goodwill if the folks there will just end up paying to have them hauled away.

1. Lots of people still buy VHS at Goodwills.
Some used bookstores still take them, too.

2. That's what I wanted to know. I don't want to take this stuff to the dump if someone will use it,
but i don't want a charitable outfit to have to pay to haul to to the dump for me!

3. We took ours to the dump to the "Pick and Poke," which is a place you can leave
still usable things for others to take away.

4. I periodically comb Goodwill for VHS tapes to play on my $5 13" B&W TV from Goodwill.

6. They seem to sell very well where I live.
For the cost of taking a family to the movies one can buy a VCR, a library of tapes and a whole lot of popcorn.

Sadly, I think the demand has a lot to do with our stagnant economy, low wages, and not having a credit card to rent DVDs from the Blockbuster machine or subscribe to netflix.

7. You can always use your old movies as blank tapes.
To do that you need to fill in the no-record slot in the back, which is exactly the size of a popsicle stick, once you lop it off a bit.

10. When a local video store closed
during the transitional era between VHS and DVD, I bought up a bunch of VHS tapes of movies and TV programs that were not and still have not been released on DVD.

See if you have any such tapes in your collection.
