1. This one:
http://www.wksu.org/listen/

I have it on right now. GREAT classical music, not too long, not too short. I have a couple of wonderful speakers right here, and I love the fidelity!

A good friend recommended it, and I listen a lot.

:hi:

2. This is probably the best Prog/NeoProg/Prog Metal mix I've ever heard

I stream this whenever I don't feel like deciding what to pick in WinAmp.

5. WSHA 88.9 - Shaw University's Jazz and Blues station
absolutely amazing jazz and blues station - no commercials.

http://live.wshafm.org/WSHA

(they have been having some sync issues recently as well as volume on their online stream - but normally it's a great station)

6. oh that sounds really good!
Edited on Thu Dec-02-10 07:45 AM by tigereye
We have a good alt station here WYEP-FM (which used to play jazz and all kinds of wild stuff back when but now plays less challenging adult alternative stuff), and a jazz NPR station - WDUQ. But DUQ only plays certain types of jazz- limited alternative or squonking jazz (some would say "don't scare the listeners" jazz :( )

http://www.wyep.org/

http://www.wduq.org/

But a blues/jazz combo sounds great! Do they play more "challenging" jazz?

7. Yeah they cover a wide range of jazz
and a slightly less wide range of blues. Here's another local jazz station from the next county over that plays a bit more traditional jazz and more blues as well (but not quite as good as the first station i posted IMO but still very good and also commercial free) --> WNCU 90.7 FM -- http://radiotime.com/station/s_21390/WNCU_907.aspx

9. Sky.fm right now. I listen to the World music on there. Very limited commercials.
Probably about 30 good choices of music.

And also Soma.

Used to like Pandora, but they got way to heavy with the commercials.

17. Sky was my first choice
I discovered Paul Hardcastle's music through Sky, and a number of other performers as well.

Gave up on Pandora because LastFM has such a superior selection or artists. I'm a fan of prog rock and discovered Sylvan, Gazpacho, RWPL, The Reasoning, and a number of other excellent bands through LastFM. I don't think any of them are on Pandora...at least not the last time I checked.

19. WBCN - Free Form Rock
Edited on Thu Dec-02-10 11:09 PM by Kat45
It's at http://www.wbcn.com/ Click on the Free Form BCN logo on the left side of the page. Anyone who lived in Boston in the past would be familiar with WBCN, which was an early free form rock station. A DJ and program director from the original station has been bringing it back both online and on HD radio. It's one of those great stations like we used to have--they play anything! They're currently on with live DJs from 11Am-2PM from Mon-Fri (and if you request something, they'll play it if they have it). For the rest of the day it's programmed with good music, both old and new. They're working to try to get it on live from more hours. I definitely recommend this station, especially when live, but it's still good the rest of the day as well.

20. Last.fm
Great for Afropop, where Pandora has no coverage. And Zouk, same story.

I often use Youtube as a jukebox, though. So much of what I like is already there, and I can go directly to it.
