World War Z
Do you need to read the Zombie Survival Guide first, or is World War Z okay on its own?

1. WWZ is uses the information in the ZSG as the basis for the story
ZSG contains at the end of it some examples of past zombie attacks.

If you read WWZ fairly carefully you can pick up the rules of how zombies are without much difficulty. It's pretty straightforward how they behave once you get the hang of it. Besides, WWZ is not about the technical stuff, but about the stories that can be spun around the technical stuff.

However, they are both great reads. :-)

2. It's fine on it's own, and both are very different books.
The Survival Guide is dry comedy and satire, World War Z is played totally serious. There is some common things between the two, but World War Z isn't a sequel of any kind, so you don't need to read the Survival Guide at all. I read the Survival Guide second.

6. You can read WWZ first, but the ZSG gives you a better education in the rules of Brooksian zombies.
Which are essentially the same as Romero zombies with a few slight differences.
