Anyonehere know how to sleep for a VERY LONG TIME?
Not a year, but say, 2-3 days in a row

I have some things I need to work out in my dreams, and the requisite 8 hours isn't giving me enough...

1. Antihistamines work very well for me
Not that I have ever slept for 2-3 days in a row, but I bet I could. I like dreaming.

2. How many fears are correct?
Edited on Fri Dec-03-10 07:29 PM by RandomThoughts
Most of fear is intimidation. And projecting a false future.

That is why fear is so useless, it is wrong most of the time. And even if it is right sometimes, you don't know which time will be right, so no reason to act based on a fear of the future that really can not be known. From there you have to do what you think is best, and try to avoid delusions.

3. Oh its not fear
I've worked out these issues in my dream journals

It's something my subconscious wants to say to me, but doesn't have the time in my usual 8 hrs

4. Tinctures of kava-kava and valerian.
Take at least the upper-end of the recommended dose, or double it. You won't OD, but it will knock you out ;)

Also, for myself and at least one other friend that didn't like my recommendation for this very reason, kava-kava will give you epic-length dreams, sometimes of a disturbing nature.

The scent of rosemary will stimulate the brain to dream more, too. Most "dream pillows" have rosemary leaves in them.

Happy dreaming! :D

9. Achieve lucid dreaming and you can tell your unconscious to cut to the chase.

Or, you may just spend your time flying and sleeping with supermodels.

10. Chlor-trimeton works pretty well for me.
Edited on Sat Dec-04-10 11:19 AM by eppur_se_muova
One tablet delivers 12-18 hours of sleep. :) But then *everything* makes me drowsy -- including most "non-drowsy" formulas ...

Other than that, hope for the flu.

12. Try hypnosis
If you can find someone with talent, whom you trust, hypnosis is the fastest way to the subconscious. Or there may be a CD you can play before sleep that will direct your subconscious mind. I know there are CDs one can play at bedtime, I just don't know if there is one for what you want.

13. Best advice I can give
Stay up for 2 or more days straight, then load up on over the counter sleep aids. You'd probably max out at about 18 hours or so though. I'm sure there are much stronger drugs/sedatives that could do it better, but I wouldn't know how to get my hands on them.

14. jmho, but for what it's worth
it's probably not a good idea to sleep too long; anymore then it'd be good to go without sleep too long. Yes, restorative sleep is necessary, but after awhile, well...

From personal experience (NOT professional opinion- you should seek that!), I've found that no matter what the circumstance(s) it's usually best to stick to your own circadian rhythms as close possible.

Doing your best to stay healthy, ie. a well balanced diet, good sleep hygiene, exercise, meditation...(basically anything that is good for the mind, body and soul) can help with brain agility, thus making things easier to think things through/work out.

Of course, the self-discipline it takes to do these things is easier said then done, I know. I need to get back on the band-wagon myself. But, seriously, when I was sticking more to such a routine, it helped me tremendously in every sphere of my life, and wasn't that difficult once I got into it. I've still got a long way to go but...

I hope this helps some. You can do this! Keep telling yourself that!

15. Snort/smoke shitloads of meth, stay up for 4 days, 5 if you can make it.
On that last day, you'll be dreaming before you even go to sleep. So be careful talking to the shadow people when the colorful people are around. Once you finally do crash, it's about a day-and-a-half to two days, waking up periodically to eat and stuff.

Caveat: It's deadly and meth part is illegal.

Tip: Probably just better don't...lol.

20. Don't use drugs...
...it will mess up your natural dream process. Don't sleep more than you need. Meditate before you go to sleep, and journal about your dreams when you wake up and let the process work over time. If you don't remember your dreams when you wake up, just free-write for half an hour and keep trying.

It's important to go to sleep when you're tired and get up when you naturally wake up.

Be patient.

I love sleep and my dream life is very important to me. But sleep can undo itself.

Good luck.
