7. the first rock and/or roll 45 I ever bought: The Showmen-It Will Stand (same singer as The Chairman"

Sadly, while getting this posted from you tube, I learned of the passing of General Johnson in October at the age of 67.

10. I don't drink anymore, so have one for me too... and one more for ol' General Johnson
Sorry to be the bearer of sad news on a Saturday night (or any other night). I hadn't heard it either, but guess he wasn't exactly a household name except to us music afficionados /rocknroll junkies. I still have that 45 all these years later. Really was the very first r&r record I ever bought, at ten years old (oops, just gave away my rapidly advancing age).
Interesting that Amerigo's post of Brenton Wood reminded you of The Chairman of the Board. I immediately thought of them/him too. Maybe because both had/have such unique voices and vocal styles.

11. Sounds to me like the original Count Five instrumental tracks too, just with some added
psychedelic organ and of course Brenton Wood's one of a kind vocals.

17. Unlikely indeed...that was pretty interesting
I have the original as party of the mighty, legendary "Nuggets" box set...seems like Brenton might have upped the calliope factor on the organ here.

15. I love that song. My father had an 8 track tape that had it on it along with "summer in the city"
and "I feel the earth move under my feet". That has got to be one of my favourites.

16. Oh, thank you! I love the '60's music.
I found some songs on YouTube earlier today that are probably out of print & aren't heard much, if at all, on oldies stations. I was thinking about posting them, & after seeing your post, I think I will.

18. Does anyone else remember...
...those great K-Tel record compilations? (Though I think that started in the early 70's.)

Great stuff!!!
