I found some '60's music on YouTube that aren't heard much, if at all, on oldies stations.

2. Kool
There was this program, called Juke Box where you selected the year and it listed all the hits for that year and you could then play them. I saw it at a friends house and wish I would have found where she got it from.

4. A long time ago I found some sites like that to jog my memory.
But I've also got a pretty good memory for music because, like so many people, I relate life memories to music.

I think the '60's music is my favorite, but the '70's is a very close second, if not equal.

5. Walkin My Cat Named Dog!!!!!!
TOTALLY loved this song . Haven't heard it since. That was very California Hippie rock from the period.

Elusive Butterfly of Love

This guy must have been best friends with the Chemists at UCLA cookin' lysergic acid diethylamide. There were some great times in the centrifuge room that summer.

8. I just sent Black Pearl to a facebook friend last night who loves classic soul
but wasn't familiar with it. On my short list for most beautiful ,soulful song ever put on vinyl....And did you know that Skeeter Davis's nephew is a DUer?

10. No, I didn't know about Skeeter Davis' nephew being here!
When I took my oldest son & his high school friends to the movies, I had a cassette tape playing of some oldies I had taped. The beginning of "I Can't Stay Mad At You" had played & my son ejected it (thinking my music wasn't cool enough), & the other kids loved it & wanted to hear the whole song!

And "Black Pearl" is awesome. On the old NBC Letterman show, Paul Shaeffer used to play it, along with a lot of Motown.

12. I was able to see the first two but the third wouldn't download for me.
I'm on my iPhone right now & when I get back on my computer I'll watch it.

The style of the '60's really shines through those first two. I'd never heard of any of these groups, so thanks for posting them.

18. I knew they had gone national to some extent.
Do you happen to remember which Shames songs they played in Philly? (not that it particularly matters, but if you, like me, have absolutely nothing better to do for a minute or two today than dig into your memory and dredge stuff like this up....)

13. Another little known but great Chicago band ; one with a fascinating musical history: The Flock
Can't You See That I Really Love Her

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teVrwrOoYg4

Started out with this folk-rock-ish sound, mutated into a horn driven soul band with their great local hit Take Me Back, and then went into an early jazz-rock fusion direction with the addition of Jerry Goodman, who went on to be in the Mahavishnu Orchestra.

Lani & Herb Alpert are actually playing in town (L.A.) at this restaurant they own, I would really love to see them.

20. That's exactly why I decided to post them. We don't get to hear them anymore
& it seems there are a lot of boomers here! It took awhile to even think of all the music I wanted, then years back when KaZaa was free I found quite a few & have them saved.
