1. WKRP, The Bernie Mac Show, Frasier, Everybody Loves Raymond
The latter one mostly because his parents remind me of mine. I still laugh at "How I Met Your Mother," and "Eight Simple Rules," which I thought I'd hate.

Funny thing is, I haven't watched much television in the last twenty years, and most of what I've seen has been in syndicate. It's not really any cool reaction against TV, it's just sort of worked out that way. So the main shows I've seen are the ones popular in syndicate, and then I usually watch them sporadically, not in the order they've been shown.

Because of this, I'm not as burned out on most shows as people who watched them all the time. I still laugh when I see "Friends" or "Jerry Seinfeld" or "That 70s Show," because I just never watched them much.

24. Eight Simple Rules is awesome
I was shocked, too. But John Ritter was brilliant, and so is Katey Sagal, and they handled his death with amazing class.

3. "Wings" -- favorite episode was with Rose Marie as Roy Bigguns' mother.
The Bob Newhart Show -- favorite episodes were Bob's stag Thanksgiving dinner & Mr. Carlin taking Emily as his "date" to his high school reunion.

Andy Griffith -- favorite episode was when Barney & Floyd were taken as hostages by the female convicts.

Designing Women -- favorite episode was about Suzanne & her foster child.

5. Agreed.
The best part of "Barney Miller" was that each episode could stand on its own as a play.

7. Sports Night
Only two seasons so it never made it to syndication. I bought the box set and it's worth a rental if you've never seen it.

16. Oh yes!
I was never a big Designing Women fan (although it was good!), but Golden Girls never fails to make me laugh. Watching reruns today, some twenty years later, will still make me have "laugh out loud" moments. Brilliant writing and acting in that series!

:hi:

Edited on Tue Dec-07-10 09:16 AM by meow2u3
THE #1 American comedy show ever!

A close 2nd is Soap.

Those two shows were riots! My family and I could not stop laughing--even after the show was over!

1970's comedy had subject matter that you can't get away with mentioning nowadays because it was 100% un-PC. BTA, maybe I have a politically incorrect sense of humor.

34. It made me laugh because I always watched it through the eyes of a
snooping neighbor catching Wilbur go the extra mile to humor Mr. Ed.

Nick@Nite should be showing retro comedies only. The sitcoms that are shown on N@N are still too fresh. Give me the older comedies any day over the newer ones.

39. I watch it on THIS TV
Don't know if any cable companies carry it. It's the digital sub-channel of our local FOX affiliate. They show Patty Duke, Highway Patrol and Sea Hunt. The latter two are not comedies, but they are amusing in their own hokey sort of way.

35. "If I've told you once, I've told you a thousand times, Alice. Make 2 trips instead of 1."
That was when Alice complained of a backache from carrying the laundry up the stairs to the roof.

One of Alice's best snark attacks to Ralph's get-rich-quick schemes was, "I'll tell you what, Ralph, I'll put a chair & table outside, make you a big pitcher of lemonade, & you can sell it to all the neighbors."
