Do you 'brandy' fruitcake?
OK, my dirty little secret.
I LIKE fruitcake.

Granny and mom used to make fruitcakes every Christmas.
Actually, they'd start making them a few days after Thanksgiving.
Some were for gifts.
(I know...I know.:eyes:)
But one was for us to enjoy.
:-)

Now we get store boughten.
Claxton is good.

About a week before I try a slice, I start to drizzle it with brandy.
Just a little drizzle every day.

DEElicious.
One slice can give you a little buzz.
;-)

5. My grandma didn't use brandy but she would soak hers in kosher red wine.
She would pour it over the top then flip and pour over the bottom then seal it up in tupperware and do the same the next day and the day after.

Everyone loved her fruitcake. I wonder why??!!

6. Brandy, rum, whisky, whiskey. They all work.
Sherry or madeira also do well.

In fact, you can make a fruitcake cocktail or a cocktail fruitcake, Or if you eat enough, a fruittail cockcake or a caketail fruitcock or any ombination that one might fish wor.

Or is that wish for?

9. I love fruitcake! Without or without rum
:)

The only brands I know about are from Texas:

Eilenberger's

and

Collin Street Bakery :9

And I just found out this evening that my GF in NZ absolutely loves fruitcake. Now I need to see what the shipping costs from one of those bakeries to NZ is... :P
