Has anyone seen the new USA version of Top Gear?
For those that don't know, it is a BBC TV show about cars. What makes the program are the personalities of the three guys who host the show. There's a grouchy, old guy who doesn't think think things through; a fashionable younger guy and a techno-nerd guy. Their wit is really what makes it so entertaining. That and the impossible automotive-related tasks they are sent to do. My favorite was their used motorcycle run the length of Vietnam.

Anyway, I saw the American knock-off on the History Channel (which used to have shows about history). It does not look promising. The guy from NYC is okay. The other too seem to be non-personalities. Plus, the production value seems a bit low.

1. No THANK you
I'll stick with the original. I hate cheap knockoffs.

I know that it's growing on some people, but I'm too addicted to the crazy British guys, and I can't imagine the show without them.

4. We've been watching it...
The debut episode is a bit dull and not the best introduction this series could have come up with.

But, the second episode is very entertaining! It's a retread of the $1000 car challenge but thoroughly American! The rapport between the three car guys is greatly improved through this episode, so we're giving it a chance on our TiVo line up for the rest of the season. Give this episode a chance before you completely choose to not watch...
