1. thanks for posting this
Gorgeous song. For the record (and since I'm a big, picky music geek), it's not really PG with Cocteau Twins, but Elizabeth Fraser only. Without Robin and Simon, it's not the full band. In addition, Paul Buchanan, the singer and lyricist from the Blue Nile, goes completely uncredited. He's singing with Liz.

2. I'm a fan of Guthrie, both solo and with Harold Budd...
...but I don't think I've seen a photo of him. When I watched the clip I thought "Which one's Guthrie"...now I know.

I also saw the reference to Paul Buchanan on the YouTube page but apparently the person who posted it didn't think of labeling it Peter Gabriel / Elizabeth Fraser / Paul Buchanan...

...glad you liked it, though.

3. Liz = LOVE
There are, of course, a lot of rabid Liz Fraser fans out there in the big, bad world (I'm one, although not quite as rabid as some), and sometimes they're so focused on her that they forget to include anyone else who might have contributed to the song. I'm almost surprised that the Youtube poster included Peter Gabriel... heh. ;)

7. ah, bummer
I was kind of doing the DJ thing in the early '90s when Lush were around and got to see them live several times. Also interviewed Miki Berenyi once over the phone. She was one of the most unpretentious rock musicians I've ever talked to. Just a lot of fun.

If you like Lush, you might like Emma Anderson's band after Lush, Sing Sing. They put out two albums and then disbanded, largely due to lack of support and money. They're a little more '60s pop/less distortion than Lush, but they wrote a lot of pretty songs. Worth checking out.

10. gem
If you've never seen the Sundays live, they started adding this mysterious non-album track to their set around the time they were touring for album #2, Blind. Supposedly known as "The Turkish," or just "Turkish," the song has never shown up on any albums or singles they released and is absolutely magical. Check it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgX_sDYNbiQ

I really wish they'd make another album, but I know Harriet and Dave are living happily somewhere on the English coast, raising their kids and staying out of the public eye.
