Snow forces Giants to stay in KC; game to Monday

The Giants-Vikings game was moved to Monday night because Minnesota had at least 15 inches of snow and wind gusting over 30 mph and the New York team was waiting it out in Kansas City.

With close to a foot-and-a-half of blowing snow accumulating in the Twin Cities area throughout the day Saturday, the Giants’ charter flight was diverted to Kansas City instead. After hanging out in the terminal for a bit, the team then settled in to spend the night there, with an initial plan in place to fly to Minnesota on Sunday morning and make it to the stadium in time for regularly scheduled 1 p.m. EST kickoff.

As for the Giants? They must really be tired of these trips to Minnesota by now.

The Vikings and Giants are set to play for the ninth time in the last 10 regular seasons, a scheduling quirk that has slated seven of those meetings— this year would be three in a row—for Minnesota.

passed through Saturday, according to local media reports.

The roof's failure called into question the Minnesota Vikings'
Monday night game against the New York Giants, which was already
postponed after the Giants' flight was diverted Saturday to
Kansas City as air travel was shut down in and out of Minnesota.

A photograph published on the website of KARE 11 TV shows the Metrodome
in darkness, void of the familiar white expanse that normally covers the Vikings' stadium.

Outdoor football in Minneapolis in December, just like in the old days. Bring back Bud Grant to coach the game.

just on the Fox Sports pregame.

Giants didn't have outdoor gear (cleats etc.) so no UM stadium plus the time to clear the field.

8. The U's stadium has been winterized--apparently it'd take a minimum

of four days to bring it back to life. The U's rather non-committal statement made it sound like they are just praying they don't get put on the spot and have to do this.

The roof was no match for a blizzard, replete with 15" of snow and 30mph wind gusts. Now bring on the Teflon jokes. :evilgrin:
