1. I really like Gloria Estefan's "Christmas Through Your Eyes"
Especially the title song. I don't have kids, but I always think of my nephew as a little kid (he's now a strapping 26-year-old) when I hear this song. Good stuff.

5. The LEGENDARY Phil Spector Chrismas CD...
Edited on Sun Dec-12-10 10:15 PM by Amerigo Vespucci
...with Darlene Love's LEGENDARY "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)"...

...it fills the "eclectic" bill because it's Spector's 60s "girl group / wall of sound" music combined with traditional and original Christmas music.

Here's Darlene...in 1995...performing the song live on David Letterman's show. AMAZING version, just a real emotional powerhouse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mbzhrjz_gVc

If that isn't your cup of tea I'd suggest Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

9. Anonymous Four- On Yoolis Night - if you like Medieval Christmas music
positively ethereal. Or anything by Ensemble Galilei.

From a more rock and roll vein, Rhino's Bummed Out Christmas CD is a lot of fun.

10. I've got a good one
I love N'Sync's Christmas CD. They have quite a few good songs - and a young JT can't hurt either.

Also, someone else mentioned the "NOW" Christmas CD. That one has a little bit for everyone on it. Some older songs to some newer songs.

11. Check out Celtic Woman
Most of the songs are traditional, but the voices are spectacular. They have a gorgeous fiddler in the group that gives the songs a different take, too. They are on YouTube if you want to check them out.

12. I really like this one:
The Coolest Christmas

It has a nice mix of more traditional as well as fun/rocking songs. They're older songs, but most of the selections are good ones.

18. Agreed.
And to the OP, Ella did both secular and sacred Christmas music albums, so look at the song list before deciding. Unless you want both. ;-)

17. The Bells of Dublin by the Chieftains and guest artists.
Or maybe A Waverly Consort Christmas, if you like early music ensembles (Vocals are done by adult mixed ensemble, i.e., male and female voices).

I also like Barenaked for the Holidays by Barenaked Ladies and, again in the early music category, Bright Day Star by the Baltimore Consort.

24. Here's a SPECTACULAR item I had never heard before: Annie LENNOX
Annie LENNOX sang it on t.v. this morning. It’s on her album “A Christmas Cornucopia.” It’s in the O Holy Night category.

“See Amid the Winter’s Snow”
Words: Edward Caswall, in Easy Hymn Tunes…Adapted for Catholic Schools, 1851, and later in Caswall’s Masque of Mary, 1858.

Music: Humility (Goss), John Goss, 1871

See amid the winter’s snow,
Born for us on earth below,
See, the gentle Lamb appears,
Promised from eternal years.

Refrain

Hail that ever blessèd morn,
Hail redemption’s happy dawn,
Sing through all Jerusalem:
Christ is born in Bethlehem.

Lo, within a manger lies
He Who built the starry skies;
He Who, thronèd in height sublime,
Sits amid the cherubim.

Refrain

Say, you holy shepherds, say,
Tell your joyful news today.
Why have you now left your sheep
On the lonely mountain steep?

Refrain

“As we watched at dead of night,
Lo, we saw a wondrous light;
Angels singing ‘Peace on earth’
Told us of the Savior’s birth.”

Refrain

Sacred Infant, all divine,
What a tender love was Thine,
Thus to come from highest bliss
Down to such a world as this.

Refrain

Teach, O teach us, holy Child,
By Thy face so meek and mild,
Teach us to resemble Thee,
In Thy sweet humility.

Refrain
