Fans of the Elder Scrolls video game series will be pleased.

It was announced at the VGA that Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be coming out on 11/11/11. Here's the trailer that was shown at the VGA: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRifj-2EEKs . It'll be coming out for the PS3, XBox 360, and PC.

I can't wait! :bounce: :woohoo:

I hope this game is just as big, if not bigger (in game area), than Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Skyrim is a huge area, so I'm assuming it will be...

3. Skyrim?
I like to play Dunmer. I'm going to feel like a midget surrounded by all those 7-foot Nord.

4. I like to play as a high elf.

I should have no problems with the Nords. :)

I just hope the whole landscape isn't like Bruma. Otherwise it's not going to be so great.

5. I don't think it will be.

Though Bruma is considered to be exemplary of the architecture.

Have you ever checked out the Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages wiki? http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Skyrim

As the name suggests, it's not canonical but the series treats its' internal mythology as sacrosanct (yes, if you read all those books in Morrowind and Oblivion there is a full and complete history, mythology, religions and fully-constructed languages), the wiki is pretty thorough about tracking it and Todd Howard (who is the lead designer of the series) is (or was at one point) a contributor.

(Other people have Star Wars, this is my geekitude area.)

6. I have not.
The Wiki looks awesome. I'll have to spend time next week reading it (after finals).

I hope they do a lot of improvements in this game. It got boring seeing the same old dungeon atmosphere in Oblivion. When you saw one dungeon, you seen them all. I also hope the allow you to use weapons while mounted on a horse (I love Shadowmere). Dual-weapons would be awesome. Can you imagine holding two longswords? And I also hope they have a more interactive environment. It was kind of annoying to run around on the roads and run into nobody except Imperial Legion soldiers and that trader you had to kill for the Dark Brotherhood. And a must, they should have open cities. Oh, and new, better spells. How many of the spells did you use? I used only live five of the highest in each school, and that's it.

7. A lot of that stuff was in Morrowind.
Not the horses (there are no horses on Vvardenfell) or the dual-wield, but the environment was more interactive, there were a number of randomized quests tied to certain areas of the map, random travelers and the such. I think a lot of that was taken out for Oblivion because of the horses..,Morrowind is all on foot so the gameplay is a bit slower and requires more environmental interaction. (Especially for Mage's Guild characters because of ingredient gathering.)

I'm not sure what to do with the spell system, it's been a area of contention for a few games in a row now. People either love it or hate it (I like it but I know a lot of people don't.) but I'm not sure what can be done to improve it in terms of making the initial spells more useful later. I think the ability to make new spells mitigates some of that, but the cost to make new spells (that are useful at-least) is prohibitively-high so many people just don't use it.

9. I always cheated to pay for spells.
I exploited the bugs in the game. Like the one after you find the cure for vampirism, and you talk to Janus Hassildor, and he keeps giving you the 10,000 gold reward, even after you accepted it (it was fixed in the Game of the Year edition). I also exploited the one where you kill Dorian in Imperial City and pick the gold out of his pocket, and sat there for hours getting a huge stockpile of gold (two to three million, at least). When I last played the game last year, I had about six million gold. I owned everything one could own in the game.
