My people in the pool have long since departed: Jimmy Johnson, celebrity, was gone before anyone quite realized he was there. Not surprising. I also had Brenda and NaOnka, and their position in the power alliance looked like they'd go far. But then the alliance turned on Brenda, NaOnka quit, and I was left without any contestants.
Last night, Carolina Jane got cross-wise with the power alliance. Her little confab with her erstwhile allies was classic. As it dawned on her that her erstwhile allies were going to vote her out, I understood what fiction writers mean by "flinty-eyed stare." Jane looked like she could have bored holes through a sheet of titanium.
So we're left with Dan and Fabio, on the outs, but still limping along, and the remainder of the power alliance with Sash, Chase and Holly. Dan is the weakest player, and at this point, I think anybody would prefer him to be in the final three because he won't get any votes. That is, unless he can make the case that for all his ineffectualness as a player and a competitor, he lasted until the end. I don't think that will sway any votes his way, though.
If Fabio is going to crash the final three and make it to the jury, he's either going to have to win immunity each of the last two times, or perhaps persuade Holly that it's in her interest to dry-gulch Sash and Chase. Fabio has grown on me; I first thought he was just a pretty-boy goofball, but he has shown some unsuspected depths to his personality. He may indeed be a pretty-boy and a goofball, but that's not all there is to him. If he makes it to the final three and Holly isn't there, I like his chances of getting votes from Marty, Benry and Jane at least. He could also pick up another vote or two from Brenda and NaOnka, and that would push him over the top.
Holly, who wanted to quit early on until Coach Jimmy gave her a pep talk, has shown a lot of resilience, and her bold move to give up a reward she earned so the tribe could have food should stand her in good stead with the jury. If she makes it to the end, I think she wins.
Chase, the amazing tower of jello, has wiggled and wavered so much, betraying allies and making empty promises, I don't see him winning too many votes from the jury, perhaps as many as two, but no more. Sash has likewise pissed off any number of the jurors, but he seems to have a personal magnetism and a glib flair for bullshitting people after he screwed them that he could win, but only if Holly's not in the final three.
So, who's going to win?
