I just finished reading "Homer And Langley" by E.L. Doctorow.
Very moving, sad, and as usual with Doctorow, beautifully written.

And very much UN-like the lives of the real Collyer brothers.

Doctorow extended the lives of his fictitious brothers into the 1970's, and turned them into self-reliant, eccentric folk heroes.
