My suggestions:

Always adopt the black kitties first. They are the most in need of homes, and contrary to popular belief, they are good luck.

Always buy too much fire insurance. What they recommend is never enough.

Always take the lump sum. You never know what's going to happen with inflation.

Okay, kind of lame advice, maybe.

Laugh often. Seek out funny stuff to laugh at.

Have a cat or 12. They will get you through some bad times.

Don't watch the news too often.

Give. Give to charity, animals, neighbors, strangers. It will never feel bad to do so.

Not necessarily at the same time. :-) Two or three at a time is good. And, I agree with the adopting of black kitties. I have one. Wouldn't trade her for the world, even though she is the most annoying cat on the planet.

What you said about black kitties not getting adopted as easily holds for doggies, as well.

If you are home alone, close the blinds, take off the clothes, put your favorite tunes on the stereo, and dance naked. It's very liberating. Heck, even clothed, it feels good.
