Holy Moly Annie! We're in for a helluva night here in So. Cal!
I'm in Big Bear Lake, about 120 miles from L.A. We've had over six inches of rain and six inches of snow since Friday, and the worst is set to hit us overnight. I'm worried that lots of trees are going to fall with the coming storm and the wind it will bring. Pine trees all over Bear Valley have been falling since late last night, and it's going to get worse. The ground is saturated, and the wind is starting to pick up. Given that pine trees have very shallow root balls, it looks like we're going to wake up in the morning in a huge mess. They're already getting HAMMERED in Orange County.

Wish us luck!

Here's a link to our current radar picture. I'm just above the "a" in San BernArdino at 6700 feet above sea level. Look what's comin!

5. Schedule the weather for an ass whoopin' would ya?
Thanks. Good wishes from you mean a lot.

This weather is absolutely incredible. Normally we have six lanes up and down the mountain; at the moment, four are closed. It might get pretty lonely up here for a few days LOL.

Tomorrow, "you can't get there from here" might not be as dumb a statement as it sounds.

My house is surrounded by pine trees, some over 100 feet tall and over six feet wide at their base. I just might be pulling an all-nighter tonight. My better half is down the hill tonight so it's just me, Bella, Luna, Harley, and Venus. Two dogs, two cats. My luck!

I'm told thunder has already been heard on the other side of the peak behind my house. Gonna be fun!

2. My dear cherokeeprogressive...
Now, that's an impressive weather map...:scared:

I'm sure you're taking whatever precautions you need to, to stay safe...

The rain down here at sea level has been gentle for the most part. No flooding of our home...

A local park got flooded because it's a low point, and a picture of the lake made today's LA Times.

If I get a chance, I'll take some pictures of it.

A lot of things in that park are under water...

The seagulls and the resident ducks looked pretty happy!

6. I have friends that live within sight of the Seal Beach Pier who must be having a hell of a time.
Hope you're doing well and that every thing is okay. I also have a friend who lives in by the pier in your neck of the woods. You stay safe. You mean a lot to me ya know.

We'll be okay I hope. My better half is down the hill tonight in Cerritos. It's just me, the dogs, and cats for now. Also, thunder is on the way so the dogs might have to sleep on the bed with me tonight instead of in their kennels at the foot of the bed. They HATE thunder, and you know how it gets up here in the mountains.

As for me, I've already put my rain gear next to the bed in case one of those huge pines decides to give up the ghost.

Tomorrow, I'll take pictures of the valley and post them here. They say that when the rain turns to snow early tomorrow, it might dump upwards of two feet or more by the end of the day.

8. We're fine, thanks!
The rain has been gentle here, all day.

The wind has not been ferocious, either.

Sounds to me as though you've taken all the precautions you can...

It'll be cool to see what pictures you post.

Stay safe, you hear? You matter to me, too...

7. Tonight it's just me, the dogs, and the cats.
The dogs will probably have to sleep on the bed once the thunder starts instead of in their kennels. I hope none of the huge trees within striking distance of my roof decide to give up the ghost!

Thanks for the good wishes.

13. That's a low spot. Last I heard they were getting ready to open the dam and let some water out.
Baker Pond was completely full today when I drove by. Hope she's doing okay.
