My boss is retiring; tomorrow is his last day
I take over effective Friday.

I've worked with him for nineteen years. After being battered and beaten in the corporate world and appalled by the world of commercial radio sales, I found safe haven here at this public radio station. I've never worked better with anyone in my life; this is a man who believes in his staff, who gives advice only when asked, who trusts us to do our best and, because of that, we do. I've never seen him belittle or berate anyone. I've been enriched both as an employee and as a person because of him. He truly is one of the finest human beings I've ever met and I will miss him more than I can say. His confidence in me gave me confidence in myself and I will be eternally grateful.

The tears have begun already; especially as I write this and as I wrote a note of gratitude and thanks to him. I've been very, very lucky to have worked for such a man.

1. It's nice that you appreciate him.
But I nevertheless wonder whether you realize just how lucky you have been all these years.

Best wishes for a successful ascent to the throne.

4. Oh, I do
I've had some horrific bosses (worked at Domino's corporate during the Monaghan years) which made me appreciate this guy even more. Not a day goes by that I don't remind myself of how lucky I am.

3. That's a beautifully written tribute to him.
I hope you are able to stay in touch with him.

I wonder what tiny percentage of good bosses he represents.

Thank you for these kind words at the very time of year where they should be spoken.

This was a really nice post.

Good for you.
