Yes. David Letterman began as a morning talk show.

I remember watching this as a kid:

1. I loved watching his morning show.
Back in those days I didn't start my shift until 11:00 AM, so I'd watch Dave while I was getting ready for work every morning. He was one of a kind for the daytime audience.

2. I loved those prank calls he would make to people.
I also remember him interviewing audience members and one guy had a Stiff records/slogan tee shirt which made the air (If it ain't Stiff it ain't worth a f*ck).

3. Boy oh boy....NBC's loss sure was CBS's gain...
NBC is stuck with terminally unfunny and ego-centric leno and I
never miss Dave when I happen to stay up late.

David Letterman has always be very fun...

4. CBS Didn't Even Program Late Night
They gave that time back to their affiliates. David Letterman was like getting a ready made, instant show that CBS didn't have to pay a dime to develop.

This is why NBC tried to keep Letterman and Conan.

5. 10101
I watched that show and then would go for a run at noon, in the summer, in the humid heat of coastal VA

6. Yavin, here's a video treat for you from the old Late Night show on NBC...
back when "tea parties" were cool (one of the funniest Letterman segments ever):
