My Grandfather's going to die Today, on the 17th Anniversary of My Grandmother's Death
He's lived a very long life, 90 years, that hasnt been the same since she died on Christmas Eve of a Brain Tumor. He'll hopefully be going to a better place.

4. I'm so sorry, MadBadger. I believe they'll be reunited, that she'll be waiting for him.
Prayers for his crossing to be as gentle as possible. It's so hard to lose a loved one at any time, but it can be much harder on a holiday. Condolences to you and your family.

8. Think of them together finally. I have a grandmother who died 50 years after
her husband and it brings me great happiness to think of them together in that cemetery by the river in Pictou County, Nova Scotia.

9. One hour before Christmas, He died
Saw him a few hours ago. I'm glad his suffering is finally over. The man was in Auschwitz, lost his whole family and as I said lost my grandmother 17 years ago to this very day, thats why I bring up it being one hour before Christmas, still on the same day.

16. Oh...I'm sorry. How sad. Still, sounds like he lived a long and full life.
I can't see any reason why there's not an afterlife. I was watching a program on TV where people described their afterlife experiences, when they died for several minutes or longer and came back to life. Their experiences were all very similar. I thought...well, really, we don't really KNOW anything about after death, do we? There might be an afterlife of some sort.

Every single one of them expressed the same feelings about the afterlife they experienced. Some at first didn't want to die. Others didn't think about the dying aspect at all. But they ALL ended up wanting to go on toward the afterlife, and felt an overwhelming sense of peace and contentment and even happiness. So if it's true, your grandpa is with your grandma, and they are happy.

11. I think your Grandfather will be your Grandmother's Christmas Present.
Your post made me misty... my Grandmother outlived my Grandfather by almost as long, but died of Alzheimer's. She forgot who he was a decade before she passed. Both were HUGE parts of my life. My Grandfather was, and still is, my Hero.

She's been waiting for him for a very long time. Tomorrow they will have Christmas Dinner together for the first time in quite a while and share stories about what the last 17 years has held. Someday you'll join them at that table, I'm sure. My wish is that you keep them waiting as long as possible so as to make the reunion that much more enjoyable.

Be strong.

12. Just saw your post that he has passed on
I never quite know what to say to people , especially strangers on DU, regarding expressing my condolences on their loss of a loved one, but I believe in an eternal soul, and that your grandmother was there to welcome and guide him into this new ,eternally peaceful place and to love him forever.

19. Oh, my deepest condolences
I really do believe, although I know a lot of folks don't, that we join those we love after we've left this dimension. I truly hope that that is the case, because there are so many I want to see again.

I know that you are hurting, and my thoughts are with you and your family. I do think that there is a better place, still, it hurts to see those we love, leave.

Hugs.
